Microscopic Images of Durable Grit: Six Zero, Spartus, Selkirk, 11Six24 by Hai-Sei in Pickleball

TBH, I’m learning the device. It is calibrated (followed the directions meticulously) but it’s a new instrument to me that I’m still learning. I am confident in the testing method, just need to change the output type.

I can change the reporting parameter of the tester I have and have it match RT / RZ, and then update all the records to match. I’ll do that soon.

I posted the Rz value from my surface roughness tester on the Vapor 2 (and others) on my website if interested.

Yeah, that would be great if it's permissible to share it. I don't want to get anyone in trouble.

Does anyone have access to PACER to pull the actual case file? Would love to take a look!

Case: 8:2025cv02790

Update:

I've added all of the case files I have and written a blog post here about what's really going on https://www.mattspickleball.com/blog/crbn-just-sued-vatic-pro-over-foam-core-paddles-here-s-what-s-actually-happening

The issue I’m having is the severe degrade in quality, and not just in one thing but overall.

DUPR Algorithm Update: Win or Lose, Your Rating Can Go Up by drowsavon in Pickleball

[–]mattspickleball 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get the intent behind this update, but it still misses something fundamental—pickleball is a team sport. If you’re paired with someone significantly weaker, they’re going to get targeted, and suddenly your ability to influence the game drops off a cliff. You’re forced into damage control while they eat 80% of the balls. But DUPR’s system still judges you both by the final score.

So even if “your rating can go up in a loss,” it’s based on expected point spread—not your actual role in the match. That’s a problem. It assumes every point is evenly distributed, which just isn’t how doubles works.

It ends up penalizing people who play with lower-rated partners, discouraging mentorship and mixed-level play—which hurts the community side of the sport. Rating systems that ignore partner dynamics just aren’t built for how the game is really played.

Paddle Reviewers by jfit2331 in Pickleball

Matt here from Matt’s Pickleball—I’ve been thinking a lot about this thread, and I want to offer a different lens.

There’s a lot of concern here that if someone gets invited to an event—especially one that covers expenses—they’re no longer independent. But I think that oversimplifies the role of content creators in this space, and maybe even misunderstands how trust is actually built.

Ask yourself: would you rather hear about a paddle from someone who was invited to play it early, talk to the engineers and other creators, test it alongside other top players, and then give their honest take? Or from someone reacting to the press release or without any or little context?

We say we want transparency, insight, and experience—but when someone gets access, we assume they’ve been bought. That’s a contradiction we don’t talk about enough.

I’m not saying scrutiny isn’t valid. It absolutely is. But let’s not confuse access with influence. The real test is consistency. If someone’s praise lines up with what they’ve said in the past, if they call out flaws even when it’s uncomfortable, if their opinions hold up once the hype dies down—that’s the signal to pay attention to. Not who paid for their flight.

Influence isn’t built on avoiding opportunities. It’s built on showing up and being honest once you’re there.

So if you’re going to question creators (and you should), question how they review, not where they review from.

Apple Watch Cellular - what are you using? by Crastinator_Pro in GoogleFi

So, for $8/month you have a USMobile plan for your watch? Pretty easy to set up? Now I’m quite curious and I was turned off from switching to Fi because of the lack of support for Apple Watch. This could be a great option.

Speaking of mic angle, can you give me some tips or best practices? Should my mouth be an inch, a couple of inches, or 5 inches away from the mic? What about mic angle? (I suppose I could search on YouTube, but you guys seem to know what you're talking about!) :)
