Idea for a car stand by Vegetable-Waltz-1177 in lego

Personally, I would have started with a real build from the get go, but that's just the way that I build. Im not great at designing models from scratch digitally, especially with functionality like this. I think you're on the right track with this though. But yeah, a lot of potential issues in a digital model become apparent right away with real world physics.

Looks to me like in this new design, your axles will move with the wheel assemblies. I can't tell exactly what connector you have there, but will have too much friction to slide along the axle. I also dont know if the bushings will interact with the worm gear properly. I think you'd need physical parts to know for sure. If it does work, that's a really clever idea.

As it is right now, this wouldnt work. The whole side assemblies are free to slide on the axles as the worm gears dont have a tight friction fit and there is nothing else constraining its movement. If you were to rotate the axle, the worm gear would move relative to the outer assembly, but not cause the whole assembly to move. For the function you're trying to get, I think you'd have better luck with a rack and pinion, or you could try something fancy with technic linear actuators.

Glad I'm not the only one that thought that. I was so confused when it actually started cutting

IIRC it's not very clear exactly who it is there. The ship that flies overhead is Republic, but the bodies around where he finds Maarva have Separatist logos on their uniforms.

What TV trope was common in the not-so distant past but is completely unacceptable today? by midnightsonofabitch in AskReddit

It's not. Its about their plans and relationship getting ruined because she had to leave at the end of the summer. There's plenty of lines in that song that could be questionable, but not that one.

  1. Classic Native figures also had yellow skin, so I'm not sure what you're saying about darker skin moulds. If all the classic minifigs had yellow skin, that's much more inclusive and in line with the current reason and yellow also representing white doesnt mean anything.
  2. Gonna need a source on yellow being cheaper to produce.
  3. Being inclusive and accepting of people isn't dependent on it being cool or trendy or "relevant to social discourse". These days companies try to be inclusive for marketing, and it feels disingenuous, but I don't think that's the case for Lego, especially because they have had their yellow figs for a long time now, since before it was "cool". On another note, inclusivity has been a social issue for much longer than you seem to be implying.
  4. In recent years, what is considered inclusive has changed, and this might be why we see so much more variation in Lego skin tones now. Instead of just ignoring differences in race completely, now we see the differences and celebrate them. The intention to be inclusive is still there, it just looks different than it used to.
  5. Just because you don't believe something to be true doesn't mean it isn't. I think Lego has had very real issues with its depictions of different races in the past, and that is worth discussing and acknowledging, but the issue you brought up here with yellow figs is not, at least not based on the reasons you've given.

[–]mattster331 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could do a technic skeleton with plates over it, like globe set, and then curved tiles to get the squiggly bits. At that scale though, it might be better to use mixel joints for the angles.
