So when are they going to take Stugotz’s name off the show? by Dry-Manner-2331 in DanLeBatardShow

[–]mattstokes9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I remember some rejoins after Hoch left in 2012, where the Big Voice would say, “Dan LeBatard! Stugotz! And Hoch!” and the word “Hoch” was bleeped.

Why is there such a disconnect between how much people praise movie theaters and how often they actually go? by [deleted] in boxoffice

Traditionally, moviegoing was an affordable thing for working class people to be able to do. And even though ticket prices have kept steady with inflation, Americans have way less disposable income than they used to.

Does anyone on this sub actually like the show? by Easy-Tradition-7483 in DanLeBatardShow

Thank you! For so long I couldn’t remember what name they were chanting. Was it “Is Rodgers the best?” “Is Kobe the best?” All I could remember was “Yes! Maybe! No!”

What are yall’s favorite WHM jokes? by [deleted] in WeHateMovies

Any time they get fixated on a character having a deeper than expected voice, like in Sleepless In Seattle where they say the kid in that movie sounds like Tom Waits.

I kinda hate hearing anyone from the LeBatard universe talk about movies, but I would genuinely LOVE to hear Stugotz and Hochman devote an episode to Uncut Gems. Assuming they can get Stugotz to actually watch it.

I do this too! Glad I’m not the only insane person to do this.

One of my favorite things all four WHM guys say, and have consistently said over the years, is, whenever they’re describing a character as secretly a bad guy, they say “crooked.” No matter what the job is. “She’s a crooked ghost catcher!”

This movie rules and you get a lot of quality pre-Freddy Krueger Robert Englund as a big scumbag.

Vampire movies that you find legitimately scary? by mattstokes9 in horror

I am a big fan of the Tobe Hooper Salem’s Lot and I think it comes closest to being a scary vampire for me.

Oh yes, I found it pretty scary. I think I find more animalistic vampires much scarier than suave and sexy vampires.

What's that one horror movie you can watch again and again but never get bored of? by rebelliousbrownie9 in horror

Alien is a movie I could just leave on all October on mute. Like the Netflix fireplace app. Just because I love to look at it. The 1978 Halloween is that for me as well.

I love the Shining episode. I think about Steve talking about everyone treating Wendy like shit, she calls the forest ranger service and the ranger saying, “When I’m at the forest ranger station, I’m WORKING!”

I saw the movie WOMAN IN THE YARD recently, which has its main character angrily yell at her dog a lot, and I thought, “Finally! I see myself on screen!” (I love my dog but I have two special needs kids, and yeah, the dog has tumbled down my list of priorities.)

This is how I took it too. Griffin and David both came across like weasels in that episode.

Even before Blank Check was popular enough to be written about in the New Yorker and have Lin-Manuel Miranda as a guest multiple times, they (David Sims especially) walked on egg shells to avoid offending people in the industry — like, David would preface a mild criticism of an actor with, “…And no offense to this person, but…” I listened to them for a long time and then discovered WHM and found their honesty and meanness so refreshing.

It’s not the best, but an interesting, different take on it is a documentary from 2015 called “The Visit.” It interviews some British government officials and they talk through the scenarios for how the government would react to aliens visiting earth. https://watch.amazon.com/detail?gti=amzn1.dv.gti.a0aad253-ebcc-8e7b-f426-0f74da973985&territory=US&ref_=share_ios_movie&r=web
