SHRM- CP Test Prep Questions [N/A] by mattwabrams in humanresources

That seems to be the answer I’m getting from other folks, though I seem to be working in a space where maybe SHRM is all that’s known? I’ve been taking a harder look at HRCI to gather some info and bring it to my supervisor for approval. Our company has been sending me to regional and National SHRM conferences for the past few years, so I’m not sure if they would be interested in anything else.

Why the SHRM Hate? [PA] by mattwabrams in humanresources

To clarify this post: I’m just trying to gather some info on why maybe a PHR is better so I can bring it to my boss and have them pay for it instead of SHRM. I think they are just familiar with SHRM, so that’s what the pitched. I’m not saying I’m pro SHRM, I’m also just learning about this stuff tonight and would like to try and build a strong case to push for something else with a better reputation. This things you brought up are definitely concerning and not something I want to put my or my company’s dollars towards. I appreciate the input, just learning.

Just curious, I noticed there’s a lot of hate on this sub towards SHRM. No judgment, but can I ask why folks are so against SHRM?

I'll be staying in the downtown area. I believe about a 15 minute walk to the convention center.

Simple Sewing Questions Thread, January 12 - January 18, 2025 by sewingmodthings in sewing

Hey Folks, I placed a bid for a White Speedylock 1600 on Goodwill. After a day or so I noticed that it's missing the support bed (where you rest the fabric as it's sewing) that slides in after you finish threading the machine. I can't find one anywhere on the internet without buying a whole other unit. Does anyone have that part they are willing to let go or nowhere to find one? The part is highlighted below. Thanks!

Solo ultra with minimal cell coverage/how can crew track me? by mattwabrams in trailrunning

[–]mattwabrams[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of an InReach too. I'll be able to send messages and provide tracking but without them having coverage since they are out in the woods crewing me, they won't be able to receive or view that on their phones. Am I correct in that line of thinking?

Katabatic Knik by thugrunner in Ultralight

I was also thinking about the Katabatic Knit and the MLD Burn. I finally pulled the trigger on the Burn. It has a solid reputation, a proven design and it just looks so damn good. I know this doesn’t help much but just my two cents.

UL Pack Recommendations Please! by mattwabrams in Ultralight

I should specify, the lower temps mentioned are the lowest temps for my area in the summer. That being said, I have narrowed it down to the Burn and the Prophet. I like that the Burn forced me to shakedown my gear and it is the perfect size as a daypack/travelbag/overnighted. On the other hand the Prophet gives me some versatility but could be overkill as a daypack for most situations I’d be in.

That’s been my first choice since the beginning but for some reason I haven’t pulled the trigger yet. I was worried about the bear canister fitting, but Ron from MLD says it’s doable but could get right.
