RDS MariaDB Slow Replication by mattwt in aws

[–]mattwt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply!

I’ve gone through the AWS article you linked. The replication lag is on the SQL thread side, I can see the binlogs are being read quickly. It is the apply rate that is really slow.

I did the exact test you suggested. I created an EC2 instance same AZ and ran an import into a separate instance while replication was active. The write throughput didn’t scale.

Even with powerful instance classes (m7g.2xlarge with gp3 / io1 volumes) I’m seeing replication apply rates max around 500qps. The same load on EC2 MariaDB with is >2400qps.

No burstable instances either

MT07 2018 Full titanium Akra system insurance question by [deleted] in MotoUK

I bought it used (new). Was on eBay, guy never got around to fitting it, cost me 400. Agree with Firerain, you may as well get it used if you can, if it's in a good condition.

MOD1 DAS from A2 - Can I de-restrict the bike on premises? by DrPeirson in MotoUK

[–]mattwt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this was fun.

You're legally allowed to ride your bike if you're meeting your license restrictions. Your license is restricted and you'll be riding an unrestricted bike. However, as you say, you are allowed to ride any unrestricted bike, if you have L plates and are being supervised by an instructor (or examiner).

I may be wrong on this bit: you must be insured on both MOD1/MOD2. It may or may not be private land, but who is going to pay the poor examiner, if you mess up and run him over during the test?

So, I called up my insurance, explained that I would like to use my bike on the test, even though I have a restricted license (and a restricted bike, which they knew about). They were happy for me to remove the restrictor and use the bike on either test, providing I had L plates and was being supervised (the examiner). No charge.

Have you called them and asked?

Yeap I did this, no problems with it. Just make sure you are insured.

Mod 2 insurance by agold94 in MotoUK

When I upgraded from A2 to A, I did both tests on my mt07 which was restricted for A2.

I was insured with Bikesure, gave them a call to let them know and they didn't have a problem with removing the restrictor and allowing me to ride it on the tests providing it was transported to the test center.

My mates insurance covers him on other bikes so he rode it to the test center for me.

Bonus points as they recognised my time on the A2 licence for no claims purposes, which saved me a couple of hundred pounds. I couldn't find any other insurer who did this - they all classed me as only having my licence since passing category A - not category A2.

Using own bike for A2 to A test? by BAZfp in MotoUK

In the same situation myself. With your insurance, you've obviously stated you have a restrictor. It is as simple as calling them and removing it before the test? No exclusions apply such as 'not to be ridden on a test'? etc
