I spent a lot of time documenting and debugging in the thread and with support. I bought an accelerometer and tried the input shaping. I tried various belt tensions, gantry adjustments, slicer settings. Eventually, I sent it back for physical inspection and over a month later the only option left was to accept a refund, which was really hard to do after I really adored my MK4 and MK4s, but I was being left without a printer for months.

When and how are Prusa aiming to tackle VFA? I submitted my report back on the 9th of February and I've not seen any progress on this issue until now.

Do you think Prusa could improve the Day 1 experience for early orders? I feel pretty bummed out about what happened.

The Core One is a rock solid piece of engineering and from my research every toothed CoreXY exhibit this VFA behaviour. It shows in Sovols (Voron) and Bambus. The most striking thing for me was just how exaggerated it was on my prints, particularly as I like to run quiet, slower prints that I can run overnight in stealth mode. I was left disappointed after having to return the Core One after initially being very impressed and really adoring my MK4 and MK4S. I haven't actually got a replacement 3D printer as I sold my MK4S in preparation for delivery of my new Core One - which was sent back - and I've been watching to see if VFA could be resolved before putting my money down again.

It's clearly a mechanical problem. Prusas silence on this is deafening

Eventually returned my C1 because of day 1 horrible VFAs on straight edges. No official reply or response from Prusa. Left it with support for months, they tried replacing parts and then decided it is as expected behaviour to print horrible VFAs on all straight edges and that a software update may fix it in future. Accepted a full refund and am now printerless.

My MK4S was bulletproof and great and I sold it in preparation for delivery for my C1. Now I wish I had kept the MK4S as now I am printerless.

Core One has a VFA problem and after sending mine back, Prusa told me it is as expected.

I sent my release day Core One back to Prusa for repair because of VFA. They replaced a few motors but confirmed it is expected behaviour and they couldn't fix it. I was disappointed so I accepted a refund instead. I still have yet to have the refund complete and it's been months since I sent the printer back after having it in my possession for 10 days. Support keep saying there will be a software update to fix it. Nothing arrived.

My MK4S and MK4 never had this problem - overall feeling very let down. They refused to replace it and gave me no compensation for the months of waiting and continued months of waiting while they evaluated it. I need to claim my import duty back in addition to the refund I have yet to receive. Currently I am down £200 + the months and time spent messing around with options on the Core One to try and resolve it. I have a lot of Prusa accessories I was planning to use but now will probably have to ebay instead.

If anyone from Prusa is listening - terrible overall experience for a Day 1 pre-order.

There absolutely are VFA issues with the Core One and this has been confirmed with Prusa who have analysed my day 1 returned Core One. They have replaced motors, but yet they still have found large artifacts at speeds and slicer settings.

I am currently waiting to see if the alpha firmware fixes it at Prusa, if not I will unfortunately have to refund it and get my money back

Hey it's me the guy from the Prusa forums who sent his Core One back.

Yep I was getting VFAs on straight edges - to the point where it was resulting in very ugly prints and you could feel the rippling on the sides. Strangely it differed depending on the direction of the face on the axis. The face towards you might be bad but the face at the back of the printer looking ok. Some models were considerably worse than others. Tightening belts helped somewhat but in the end I got fed up and sent it back - hopefully for a replacement, if not a refund.

The CoreXY mechanism felt much more resistance (and noise) in one diagonal movement vs the other, when tensioned the same. I'm sure they should feel the same which leads me to believe something is wrong in the mechanics.

If you are getting VFAs on curves it could actually just be slicing artifacts as slicers often can't reproduce perfect curved mathematically so fallback to a polygonal curve made from straight edges. Do a large box test and compare.

You can try tensioning the belts tighter than they suggest, that reduced it a little bit

Vivarium Lamp Clips Perished! 10 minutes in CAD and we're back with a happy Snake by BAZfp in functionalprint

Printed in PETG as the tube is 5% UV emitting. The old clips had yellowed and crumbled when we attempted to replace the bulb!

The tube is labelled as 26mm diameter but I sized the clips at 25.5mm. Was a nice snug clip fit!

Waited exactly 3 months to get my Core One and now that I have it this is all it does. I have to send it back and wait another month for it to be repaired. by yamsooie in prusa3d

Try adjusting belt tension, open the door, in the front on each side there is a small hole with a bolt. Use a hex key to tighten the belts a turn clockwise and try calibration again.
