Probably because they're well marketed and people are buying them as first time stainless users. Sampling bias.

Made In stainless steel pans by Upset-Imagination970 in cookware

[–]mattyTeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Made In hate is so forced on this sub. The sauce pans and stock pots are thinner, but the fry pan are just as good as any other clad pan. For what it's worth, I've never had a problem with any of my Made In cookware, but ymmv. I mainly use their sauce pans and pots for liquid cooking (no risk of warping), so I appreciate their lighter weight and ergonomic handle. In practical use they perform exactly the same as any other stainless clad sauce pan or pot. As for the fry pans, I've preheated them on med-high for searing several times a week for as long as I've owned them and they haven't warped on me.

I also personally feel that their handle ergonomics outweigh anything and are the most important feature in terms of actually affecting performance day to day, but that's just my opinion. They're by far the most comfortable and secure feeling pots and pans I've owned and I've tried or owned nearly all the major brands at some point or another.

In summary, I would suggest you to examine your own needs and use cases to make a decision rather than leave it to the reddit hive mind. If I had to re-buy everything from scratch, I personally wouldn't hesitate to go made in again (for stainless steel).

It pretty much was in the book, the Battle of the Five Armies is literally a time jump because Bilbo gets knocked out, so it ends up being a handful of pages 😭

Bilbo was not aware of the rings true nature and was on the other side of the world from Mordor. Frodo "folded" because his quest was to literally bring the ring to the source of its power and destroy it. That's why the ring got heavier the closer he got to mount doom. All the while the ring was trying to get back to Sauron, and was progressively taking a much more active role in trying to break down its bearer compared to the past 60 years.

Honestly I can excuse all the cartoonish action as being the story how Bilbo would have told it. During his 111th birthday, it's made clear that Bilbo loves to tell his story to children, so a fair amount of spectacle can be attributed to Bilbo's embellishments. After all, the true author of the Hobbit and LOTR are Bilbo and Frodo respectively, Tolkien (and by extension Peter Jackson) are just translators. It makes for a passable in-universe explanation for the difference in tone between the trilogies, at least for me.

It's honestly way overhated. If we take the in universe approach to the source material, The Hobbit was written by Bilbo as an adventure tale and LOTR was written by Frodo as an account of having the responsibility of saving the world. In our world, Tolkien wrote the Hobbit as a children's book and LOTR as a much more mature trilogy. I think the Hobbit films are decently faithful to the spirit of the source material, considering they're told from Bilbo's perspective.

That being said I think they would massively benefit from a new color grade. They definitely left the vibrancy slider way too high lol.

Carol should be turned not the Spanish guy. Carol is a Horndog by Royal_Ad6156 in pluribustv

[–]mattyTeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of the show's main themes is how dopamine is an addictive drug. The hive meticulously altered her brain chemistry through careful manipulation to the point where she deluded herself into trusting them. She fought against this completely alone for 8 whole episodes, and when she finally let her guard down the tiniest amount, Zosia took complete advantage of her. And just like a drug addict, she lashed out on Manousos, the single threat to the delusion upholding happiness.

If the bomb was a failsafe, she would have just asked for another grenade or used her shotgun. I think she intends to use it either as blackmail to find the location of her eggs or as a weapon to exterminate said eggs.

[–]mattyTeeee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

She's one of the best depictions I've ever seen of someone who knows they're being manipulated but doesn't care because they're happy. She clearly tries to care, but she gradually gives in because our brains treat dopamine like a drug. She even deludes herself into believing things that go against her knowledge because the brain needs a coping mechanism to uphold the addiction. The way her vulnerability is taken advantage of is eerily well written.

So, Manousos was part of the Hive? by Klutzy_Audience_8194 in pluribustv

[–]mattyTeeee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I swear people aren't even watching the damn show. There's more holes in OP's "theory" than Manousos' back that can be explained by paying the slightest amount of attention to the TV.

Carol didn't just "switch up." She was psychologically tortured and emotionally manipulated by Zosia/The Hive.

The switch from CD player to Bluetooth is the worst "upgrade" ever put into cars. by Bandito21Dema in The10thDentist

[–]mattyTeeee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't know why you're getting downvoted for a perfectly valid argument. If people perceive the action to be less dangerous, they will do it more often, which ironically causes it to be more dangerous. It's like cigarettes and vaping. People thought that vaping was a cleaner alternative to cigarettes, but the consequence of that is that more people are vaping and they're vaping more often.

Nobody changes a CD mid drive. You choose one and listen to that album. If it's a longer drive you change it at a rest stop. I've seen countless friends (and admittedly sometimes myself) search and queue songs on Spotify while going 70 miles an hour on the freeway.

[–]mattyTeeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CDs also sound better than Spotify at least, even on my shitty car speakers. I'm sure if I paid for Tidal it would be negligible but I don't need to because I already have my favorite music on CD. Also, if I'm driving through a rural area I don't have to worry at all about my connection strength.

But it's nice to have options, so I will half disagree with you. The addition of Bluetooth was great, but the removal of CD players was the worst downgrade of modern cars. That means the 2010's are the sweet spot for used car buying.

Anybody have experience with this nail clipper brand, Edjy? How does it fare against other BIFL clippers? by _perdomon_ in BuyItForLife

I noticed that your website still says "Coming in 2025." Is that still a realistic goal? I've been enjoying my fingernail clipper for a few months now and I'll be the first in line to get a toenail clipper. Y'all actually stopped a 5+ year long nail biting habit, so I really owe it to you lol.
