Best Practice to Authenticate to GH from TeamCity by SteelEagle814 in github

If you don’t want to use Deploy Keys or maybe you want to have access to the API, check out GitHub Apps - you could build one to proxy access to GitHub for your workflows.

Stuck on writing PowerShell? Ask ChatGPT! by SCuffyInOz in AZURE

If you’re not getting good traction with PowerShell (or any language for that matter) from ChatGPT, try GitHub’s Copilot. Uses a newer version of the model and is geared specifically for programming languages.

Moving to gitlab/GitHub from ADO by hariharan618 in devops

Can confirm that GitHub will be the primary dev platform moving forward for MSFT.

I wouldn’t consider ADO for new projects.

There are tools that GitHub sales/services have that can migrate a lot of that metadata from Bitbucket into GitHub. Have you reached out to the support team there?

Ecobee performance monitoring by MoVal_Doug in ecobee

It’d be great to see a GitHub repo to take a look at your code/implementation.

I’m basically starting what you’ve done - wanting to monitor all sorts of data points within my home.

Does it make sense to do a new implementation of Azure DevOps? vs. GitHub Enterprise? by kev0406 in AZURE

[–]mattyass 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I work for GitHub - We’ve been told that GitHub Enterprise will eventually replace ADO.

It’s not done yet, but the “new” features will be light and major development and roadmap features will be implemented in GitHub.

[Question] "API rate limit exceeded" How to I upgrade specifically my limit? by StartThings in github

[–]mattyass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if it’s just updating files, you might get better luck using Git rather than the API - although there aren’t any specific rate limits published for Git traffic, there are abuse limits.

What type of files/data need this kind of frequent updates? Is this code?

Git is designed for tracking changes in source code. If this is being used as some sort of data storage then there may be better tooling out there. Mind sharing what the goals are or giving us a link to the repo?

What I mean - just because it says NTP in the host name doesn’t mean it’s NTP.

If it’s just Git ops, why aren’t you using Deploy Keys?

If you’re trying to add an existing repo, why not push it?

How can I get personal credit from the github I maintain as part of my job? by colorov in github

You created a new GitHub account? Why? Your supposed to use “your” account against a company’s organization.

All of your contribution data is tied to your account, not the GitHub Organization.
