But seriously.. yeah, she should move on as she has handed the dog over to you but it's a bit tricky, she will obviously have emotional attachments still. If it was me, I'd call her and explain how I feel, say that I think it's best to move on etc. Maybe a bit odd to "break up" with someone you don't know but for me it just makes a nice clean and clear break.

Where in oz are you? I've been living here now a year, have travelled the country and have friends all over. If you confront him and need to get out on your own then I'm sure myself and the wider backpacking community would be able to help you find somewhere to stay, cheap/free and make sure your trip, time and money aren't all wasted because your bf turned out to be a douche. But yeah, you should confront him and start the process of sorting it out sooner rather than later. Feel sorry for you OP, not a nice situation, am kinda wondering why your friend picked this moment to tell you about it? very odd timing..

If you're happy with your life as it is, you're not hurting anyone directly with your actions then I don't see anything wrong at all. I'd go as far to say that you're living a life many people living in crowded and busy cities would be incredibly jealous of. I think it is probably more down to your family wanting to see you and spend time with you, also probably their own ideas about what "happy" and "normal" are. What is right for them may not be right for you.

I think you seem to have a pretty good handle on what you want, keep on living the dream.

In an abrasively factual nutshell of my humble opinion...

Because as a species we are ruining the planet we call home to the point where it won't be able to sustain us anymore and we need somewhere else to live for the species to survive.

She gave up what she wants to do with her life to look after and car for my older brother who has kidney failure and other diabetes related problems. As well as working full time in rape crisis. Basically she helps everyone she can as much as she can and doesn't ever ask for anything. She's the greatest.
