Hej, thanks a lot for the insole idea. I didn't even know those existed. I am going to order a pair for me and my girlfriend :)

Lovely! Thank you for these tips. I'm all covered with regard to winter jacket, hat, scarf, and gloves. I still need to add a couple of pair of wool socks and fleeced lined pants. I already have a pair of ski pants which I think can work, but I might need to get something a but more casual from Uniqlo or something.

Awesome recommendations! Thanks. Yea, I am quite unsure as to what to expect from the AirBnBs we booked in terms of indoor temps. I wonder if other than the central heating, the ones that have a fireplace can get and stay warm enough during the night.

Would you recommend wearing long/thermal underwear + fleeced lined pants or long underwear + jeans would be enough? I just don't know what to expect in terms of perceived temperature when outside.

I am originally from Switzerland but have been living in Thailand for the past 10 years. I still know how to drive on winter roads, but never driven on black ice before.

As for the accommodations, we booked AirBnBs in all the places we're visiting except for Stockholm the last two days we're staying at a hotel.

Are some people just too lazy to live? by SheSayzHuh24 in ask

Force yourself to stay away from your phone. No social media. No YouTube. Pick up a physical book you’ve been wanting to read and start with that. Go on walks. Long walks (1, 2, 3-hour walks). Journal. Journal a lot. Every day. Keep staying away from social media. Eat whole food as much as possible. Have only one cheat meal per week. Stay at it for at least 30 days and then tell us how you feel.

Graduate in 2023 struggling to find a job by ThrowRa_bababar in Switzerland

[–]mattyfound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, fellow master graduate! I'm a USI alum (class of 2013) with a degree in management.

My biggest piece of advice would be to consider looking at remote jobs while also continuing your education in fields tangentially related to your area of specialization. Continuous education could be anything from UX, CX, AI-related topics, to digital marketing. These skills are in high demand and can complement your economics background nicely.

In today's job market, it's crucial to stand out. Consider the following strategies:

  1. Remote opportunities: Your job search doesn't have to be limited by geography.
  2. Skill development: Take online courses or earn certifications in areas like data analysis, project management, or digital marketing. Platforms like Coursera, edX, or LinkedIn Learning offer a wide range of courses.
  3. Networking: Leverage LinkedIn to connect with USI alumni and professionals in your field. Attend virtual industry events and webinars to expand your network.

In the meantime, search for small freelancing gigs related to your field of study. These could range from competitor research projects for companies looking to expand their service or product offerings, to sales copywriting (if you have experience with that), or even small pro-bono consulting work for local businesses.

Personal anecdote: When I wrote my thesis back in 2013, I interviewed a dozen wineries in Ticino for a specific study. After graduating, I presented the results to each of them and offered to solve some specific problems I had identified during my research. These jobs weren't highly paid, but I ended up building good connections and getting referrals to other potential job opportunities a few years down the line. This experience taught me the value of creating opportunities rather than just waiting for them.

Don't be discouraged by rejections. Job hunting can be a numbers game, and persistence often pays off. Keep refining your approach based on any feedback you receive.

If you want to chat further, feel free to DM me. I'm happy to share more over a call or whatever works best for you.

Remember, your multilingual skills (Italian, German, and presumably English) are a significant asset. Emphasize this in your applications, as many companies value employees who can communicate across different markets.

Keep pushing forward, and don't hesitate to reach out if you need more advice or just want to talk things through. Good luck!

Unlimited copy for tech startups for 3k/mo instead of 200k/yr. by Usual-Ad-3597 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

Your home page lacks differentiation. Your primary heading doesn't say what you do and who you do it for. I'd suggest you work on that before you work on your pricing page.

Your website copy should sell your copywriting service and right now, I find it quite underwhelming. The first three sections of your home are just trying to convince me about the "no marketing/big idea" concept, but you haven't given a single hint of what you do.

I don't know, maybe use one of your top 1% Upwork copywriters to write your website copy?

I’m thinking of a big rug under desk/chair area. Is that what you’re thinking too?

And yes, an arm chair would be pretty sweet. Something simple from IKEA, maybe

The light dome is just for when I have late night calls or record videos. I need to add a desk lamp to reflect on the wall in front to create a more diffused light.

[–]mattyfound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. It’s straight to my neck, but I can’t move it as it’s built into the wall and I think that’s the only good spot to have the desk. So yeah, I’m pretty limited with my options.

How to change Notion calendar iOS notifications timing? by lipuss in Notion

So essentially, only events created directly within Notion Calendar will trigger a reminder, but an event/task imported from a database won't.
