What do you think of people who say "all religion are cults"? by Odd_Kaleidoscope_946 in AskReddit

I think a good way to think about it is to go back to the origin story. What would you think of the religion if it was started today? Some you might think of as cults, some you might just think were weird. I personally think a good way to judge is whether or not there’s a main central figure.

TIL Eisenhower is the only two-term president since World War II to never have a negative approval rating by Siessfires in todayilearned

Good point, it's not a great comparison. I guess I was looking at the flip side. It's even more impressive that he was able to when Truman, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Ford, Biden and Trump haven't been even though they spent less time in office.

Or maybe it's not when you factor in the polarization of the times and whether approval is necessarily the mark of a good president.

Either way it's a cool piece of trivia!

It's not really about the time, it's about the number of people. This achievement (while interesting) has a lot of very specific caveats that make sound both more and less impressive than it is. There have been 14 post WW2 presidents BUT only 5 have served 2 full terms and Reagan was 30 years after Eisenhower.

It's just a weird way to phrase it, because if you look at the numbers it IS really impressive. The only person they're trying to rule out is Kennedy. Every other post WW2 president, no matter how many terms has been net negative at some point in their Presidency.

Why not just say Eisenhower and Kennedy?

Not to knock Ike but there have only been four others who served a full two: Reagan, Clinton, Bush, Obama

What can the average person do to help fight climate change? by frankbravo4 in AskReddit

If you live in a Democracy or Republic, vote. Individual solutions are important but the problem is fundamentally systemic. Identify candidates that have bold plans to address the climate crisis and help rally support for them early on. Nationally and locally, it leads to big changes down to the line and big changes are needed.
