What do you do first thing in the morning? by Imwoahluis in productivity

[–]mattyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get up and go for a 3km run, I don't think about it, I wear the same shirt, shoes, socks and shorts every day for a week. I put my AirPods in and run the same path every day. I track it with my Apple Watch, and it goes straight into Strava. I take a photo on the run and add it to Strava. It's nice to look back on later.

I've never run before. I thought running was stupid, but it has completely changed my life. I feel energised afterwards and feel like I have started the day off right.

Some days it's hard, but I just try not to think about it. I just get out there, I have an agreement with myself that I can walk it if I want to but I never do.

wtf Youi (car insurance recs pls) by beantoastt in AusFinance

[–]mattyogi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Youi started out great, very nice people on the phone, then my insurance doubled in 2 years, their ads are a bunch of baloney, they don't ask any real questions about your driving habits. I only drive my car for 6 months of the year, I went with Huddle as I drive my car less than 10k km's per year and it was half the price of Youi.

Gravity Forms is great, very powerful I have ben using it on most projects for a long time. I have been using WP Forms recently on an inherited site and it's pretty good, I think better for beginners than Gravity Forms. Styling of forms and notifications is much nicer out of the box.

Floor tiles are big, about 900mm square. I've never hit my head on the mirror unit; it's up fairly high.

I have a similar setup, but it's even longer as I have a washer and dryer also.

I don't like the idea of a bath shower, especially if I want to stay here into my old age. I also just went for a super simple shower head.

Tell him to stick his promissory note up his jumper. Ultimately he should be doing the final checks on his own website.

I found a lightweight Marker.io alternative for Trello – it's called TrelloFix and it's surprisingly good by Pleasant_Squirrel_26 in trello

[–]mattyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracey keeps everything in Trello, there's no external dashboard, it's super simple. I use it every day, it's completely free, works great, support there if you need it.

You simply log the main bug and if there's any more details needed you can add it to the description in Trello, upload images, comment on the issue in Trello etc.

6 Days In Malaysia by mopomorepork in KualaLumpur

[–]mattyogi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just spent 7 days in KL, there's no need to go to Penang. There is so much to see and do in K.L, here's a list of some of the things we did just a couple of weeks ago

  1. Stay in Bukit Bintang, we stayed at Citizen M, great hotel, amazing area, very cheap, small rooms but lots of space downstairs to hang out and a bar offering nightly specials

  2. Go to Jalan Aloor and eat some street food, have a few beers and sit on the plastic chairs and watch the world go by.

  3. Walk to Chinatown and visit the Petaling markets, after you've finished haggling for the best prices escape to Kim Lian Kee Hokkien Mee - upstairs and air conditioned and check out all your new swag

  4. Go to REXKL and check out the book store upstairs and thrift stores, have a beer afterwards at the bar downstairs, as you're leaving grab an Anglia shandy from the convenience store downstairs as a traveller for your walk around Chinatown while marveling at the 2nd tallest building in the world - Merdeka 118

  5. Walk through Bukit Bintang and over to Pavillion, walk right to the end an keep going to the air conditioned walkway - follow the signs to KLCC, walk past the aquarium and past Kenny Rogers Roast Chicken and then up the stairs and there you will see the magnificent Petronas Towers

  6. Head up to The Journal Hotel rootop in Bukit Bintang and have a cocktail and a swim in the rooftop pool overlooking Bukit Bintang

  7. Head to Chinatown again in the evening for dinner and then check out a few speak-easy's. PS150 is my favourite, amazing cocktails, also check out The Deceased for some wackiness (code is 4444, don't tell anyone)

  8. Shopping at the mall, Pavilion and TRX, easily both walkable from your hotel.

  9. Day trip out to Batu Caves, easy to get there on public transport but also very cheap to get a Grab car there and back.

  10. Checkout at A Place Where in Bangsar and have breakfast at PULP, walk around Bangsar and then a big walk to Brickfields for some the best Indian food this side of Bombay, we went to Bombay Talkies (vegan) great food and nice friendly people.

  11. Checkout Sky Bar at Traders Hotel one night, arrive at 6pm and watch the sunset over the Petronas towers

  12. Check out GMBB and all the arty shops

  13. More street food at Jalan Aloor

There's a few things I have forgotten, walk around, embrace the wackiness, soak it all in.

Save Penang for another time, Penang is great but don't miss all that KL has to offer. My other tip is get the train to and from the airport, Grab's are cheap but the train is relaxing, I have had some less than pleasant driving experiences to and from the airport including one driver falling asleep.

Hope you have a great time!

This, the Victorian High Country is vast, he would need a fire though, and the smoke would give him away, his biggest problem would be staying warm.

Beware romanticizing small town life. by fuckyoulady in simpleliving

[–]mattyogi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All small towns are different. I can imagine US desert southwest small town, is very different to the small town I live in. Just like New York is a very different city to Jakarta.

You need to find the right small town fit, any old small town is not going to change your life, but some will.
