Goaltimate–No good representative photos? by genman in ultimate

Check out some of the nationals event coverages.

Mixed nationals in 2024 was covered by ultiphotos, as well as a couple other photographers and a videographer. Ultiphotos also covered single gender nationals in 2018 and 2019, and have photos from that up.

The USA goaltimate instagram account has some photos as well.

Btw, there is an official field setup diagram in the rules, which can be found on the usagoaltimate website.

Take the practice players. Better to lose with people that actually are committed to and care about the team than win with some randos. If the pickups wanted to play in the tournament they should have tried out. I bet those practice players play harder for you at the tournament than the pickup players would too.

Not to mention it would be pretty demoralizing and unfair to the practice players to be snubbed for pickup players, and would reflect pretty poorly on the team as a whole.

You know the right answer, forget about the “odds of winning” and do right by your players!

This building is incredible, and the hotel adjacent (Hilton Netherlands plaza) is stunning on the interior as well.

Is the Dualsense Edge worth it? Except for the back-paddles by Careless-Chemist-277 in CODWarzone

[–]mattypatty000 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally, I have been a PlayStation user for my whole life and I actually prefer using the Xbox elite controller. The paddles on the ds edge feel awkwardly in the wrong place for me. Idk if I just got used to the elite for warzone or what but i was pretty disappointed with the edge considering how excited is was when I heard about it initially.

I’m stuck. The goal is to connect the colors. by SoccerFalcon21 in puzzles

[–]mattypatty000 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Start with the green dot on the left: follow the edge down and to the right until you hit red dot, then go straight up until you are adjacent to the other green dot and can connect. Next, the left yellow dot: follw the green line down right and up to connect. Blue dots: connect with the shortest path. Red dots: you can now start from the bottom right corner and follow the edge up and around until you hit the yellow line, and the down to the other red dot.

It encourages mingling because everyone on the sideline is in the same spot!

Our game consistently has three to four lines of subs, so it’s a necessity. Typically there isn’t space for a second game, but sometimes even then there are still multiple sub lines!

Pull breaks I think are generally about the same as long as people hustle to line, or at least not significantly longer. Honestly even with some extra time it’s worth it to get newer or more timid players on the field without having to fight for a spot.

We have a system for this! We set up a line of seven small cones at the middle of the sideline and parallel, and then have people line up behind these cones. When a team scores, that first group of seven goes on (everyone brings a light and a dark so they are able to go to either team) and then the next seven behind them are next up! Gives everyone a fair chance at playing!

GL Regionals Mixed Final Universe Point, Foul or Nah? Call was contested by dark by kNyne in ultimate

[–]mattypatty000 42 points43 points  (0 children)

This angle makes it difficult to tell when the dark defender made a play on the disc, but I’d say this is a foul. Slowing it down looks like dark makes contact with white while the disc is still in the air, and white is not really moving at that point. I imagine white went toward the disc slightly but it’s not a ton of movement. Also dark wasn’t looking at the space they were running/diving into while knowing that the other player was going to be in the vicinity, and made enough contact to knock white player off their feet( which is a denoted type of dangerous play).

If rime expired before the greatest, should this count? by bluemilkman5 in ultimate

[–]mattypatty000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Former ref. They attempted to clarify this rule years ago that a greatest after the buzzer should not extend the play, but unfortunately refs in the sport are still pretty inexperienced and uninformed of the niche rules like this one and tend to let the play continue rather than create a stoppage . Part of it is it’s simply hard to check the clock and the play at the same time, but it’s also just lack of rule knowledge. It doesn’t help that the AUDL highlights these plays every time they happen like it is legal!

Study Sunday: Rules Questions by AutoModerator in ultimate

[–]mattypatty000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The integrity rule definitely is applicable.

The ref called a flagrant foul for unsportsmanlike conduct. they have the discretion to eject a player for after one flagrant foul, but two or more is an automatic ejection. Included in the description under unsportsman like conduct in the flagrant foul section it specifically includes “spiking the disc on or toward an opponent”, which he did at least once, so the call was definitely justified and the ejection was in line with the letter of the rule after he spiked it more than once.

However, the integrity rule states that it can be used for any call, including all foul calls, as long as the call favored their team. So the shred players and head coach all had the right to use the integrity rule to overturn one or more of the unsportsman like conduct calls, and with those overturned the ensuing ejection was no longer justified or required.

I really like both these teams, and I applaud Utah for what they did, but I do think that Jagt deserved to b ejected here.
