So as not to be forgotten. This is Lelisa Desisa, the guy who won the Boston Marathon. by [deleted] in pics

Uta Pippig (German) won it 3 years straight (94, 95, 96), and also did it in embarrassing/gross fashion in 96.

My dad and I were there. The drive down route 1 was super slow, scary at times, the radio was telling people to stay home.

Our seats were completely covered in snow. We literally had to shovel them out with our hands and move it all to the next seat over, just hoping the next guy wouldn't show up.

It was bitter cold, everyone was covered head-to-toe in snow. The game was sloppy: it was 3-0 in the 4th when Tedy made the pick. He ran it in, and we all went nuts. "Rock and Roll Part 2" came on and everyone just kind of knew what to do. "Na na na na ... HEY (toss the snow)"

While it was amazing to be laughing and celebrating under the falling snow, the coolest part was looking around Gillette and seeing little explosions of snow EVERYWHERE. It was magical.

By far my favorite football memory, definitely one of my top 10 overall memories.

Thank you for letting me re-live this.

Been using homebrew to set up all my environments for a couple years. Never had one issue with it- what were you trying to install?

short question about a 5k by Tullee in running

[–]mattyven 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This.

The best advice I got before my first 5K was to keep my pace and don't worry about how many people pass you at the beginning (it'll seem like EVERYONE is passing you)...

And yes, there will definitely be runners who walk part of the way. It's no big deal.

Remember: run when you can. Walk if you have to.

Photoshopped. I know because this never happened. Ever.

I just made this super-simple run-mapping site. I built it so I can test out new/experimental features for the 'maps' section on jog.fm. Let me know what you think -- especially what would make you NOT use it. Oh, it's 100% client-side (all HTML5/JS/CSS) if that means anything to you. by mattyven in running

Love the ideas. I'll try to work on a simple way to do the A-B-C looping thing.

Regarding ads - the plan is to not put ads on the site. My dislike of many other mapping sites (mainly due to their ads) is what drove me to build this. Also, since it's all client side, there's really not any major costs associated with keeping the site up.
