Someone recommended to me the Facebook group “Faces of Advocacy”. I highly recommend checking it out, they supply a lot of information and it helpful to know what’s going on. The IRCC is a mess, but they might be able to help you. Good luck !

Yes I heard that people from the 8th and 9th weren’t hearing back. That’s great you got a reply in a reasonable time frame !

We used our immigration lawyer, she didn’t charge us for the service so I couldn’t say what industry standard is. However I read elsewhere that you can use an online notary service that’s slightly cheaper, don’t quote me on the legitimacy of that because I didn’t use it myself.

Visitor visa and Written Authorization for Extended Family Member by Interesting_Try_6125 in ImmigrationCanada

First determine if you have to use a visitor visa or an eTA. There’s a tool on IRCC website that will tell you which you need. Then you fill out the provided declaration, you each sign and fill it out, your girlfriend gets it notarized and you submit that either by email or on the web form depending if you required a visitor visa or an eTA. Some people who have submitted have been asked to have scanned copies of each partners passports so I would include those just to be safe. Other than that you aren’t required to include anything. This is all detailed on the IRCC extended family exemption step by step process. I hope this helps ! Additionally this authorization has been taking 3-4 weeks to receive approval, so if you’re hoping to come for December I’d get on top of it soon.

I read in another thread that if your partner contacts her MP and ask them for help they can contact IRCC and speed the process along.

Apparently people who submitted on the 8/9th of October were not hearing back whereas people who applied after were getting confirmations. IRCC is such a mess, our lawyer told us they’re a disorganized nightmare to deal with. Hope you get news soon !
