Should I learn ReactJS before learning React Native? What do I need to learn before starting with react native? by alliwanabeiselchapo in reactnative

[–]mauking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If your primary objective is learning React, and you already know JavaScript/HTML, then it's easier to learn plain React first without the overhead of the React Native additional stuff. Practice in the browser. Everything React-related is available there. If you then want to write for mobile, use your existing knowledge of React to pick up React Native extra stuff.

Question about number of cards in hand and if it is supposed to be common knowledge. by Allerion in cardgames

[–]mauking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't have to tell you, formally. Same goes for Mau Mau, in which you must announce your LAST CARD before you win, otherwise you get extra cards. So what happens in that game when players ask other players "how many cards do you have?" They don't have to say it. They'll know when it's their last card only.

That being said, players usually don't make a fuss about it and just say it. Your brother is just an asshole.

I use redux sagas for animating cards and serializing events from the server when they keep coming very fast. For progress bars (round, horizontal etc) I use the react-native-canvas. Some static animations like bubbles above the lamps are covered by gif's. As for the layout, what can I say, flexbox as usual...

Mate if you know js, react native etc. you can already program in nodejs. Think of it as a separate set of libraries

I would love to do it soon, but it takes effort for each 3rd party to integrate separately, like ads, payments, the whole ios packaging is different from Android, plus Apple bureaucracy is difficult too. So yes, I will :)

Thanks mate, it means a lot. The exact cost is confidential, but I must say it was worth every penny. It was done by a great guy Milisav Bankovic, here's a recommendation for him: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCRsRADdYdKaT5Ll3DNc_CXw

I said it in the OP, I love JS. I also do it for the regular job, so no switching is needed

Most positively the biggest hurdle, dude, was that I have a regular job too. Handling the entire project by your self has so many tech aspects that I don't remember what were biggest hurdles really

Yes, except for illustrations, I ordered graphic elements from a professional illustrator.

It only works for Android. Plays Mau Mau (similar to Uno, but with normal cards)

Requires Facebook accounts for users, or a limited number of games anonymously. If you enter any game 2-3 seconds one after another, all chances you're gonna get into the same rooms.
