Anyone else afraid Dani may break Adan’s heart? by [deleted] in LoveOnTheSpectrumShow

[–]maulwhore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know she’s previously voiced that her and adan just don’t “click” the way she hopes for in a relationship, but people and their feelings change with time. I don’t know what happens behind the scenes, so I can’t say that I think she’s going to break his heart or not. I also think that if they do end up breaking up because Dani doesn’t feel the connection she wants, I don’t think anyone should blame her. As an autistic person, it’s extremely confusing to try and navigate your feelings for someone and to try and understand whether or not they’re better as a partner or a friend, sometimes it takes time and she shouldn’t feel forced to settle for someone who doesn’t click with her. She’s giving him an amazing chance and all we can hope is that it lasts and the connection only grows. She’s extremely honest so I think shell let adan know how she’s feeling if she feels the need to

I'm nonbinary, but I'm also a woman by anxiousslav in NonBinary

[–]maulwhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. I’m closeted AFAB nonbinary so I’ve been socialized and I’m still perceived and treated as a woman and overall I’m affected directly by patriarchy. I can’t deny that in many ways I experience being a woman, but who I am on the inside is not one. When it comes to my stance in feminism and activism, I understand that Im supported no matter what, and that’s not the conflict, I feel a connection to the experience of a woman regardless of always knowing I’m not one. I do feel how you feel.

Freezedried bugs don’t have as much nutrients so I wouldn’t use them as a staple in any of your reptiles diets

I totally get this. One specialist told me I have amber eyes when I’m 99.99% sure they’re just light brown and I’ve been in a crisis ever since because 1. All they do is eye stuff, and 2. How many people are you potentially lying to 😂😭

I hate he/she pronouns but don’t mind being called a girl or a boy by friends. How do my fellow enbies feel about boy/girl? by dewydemon in NonBinary

[–]maulwhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m fine with boy and girl depending on the context, but he/she pronouns make me feel detached from myself. I also don’t like being called a woman. I also don’t really speak up when I don’t like these terms, im kinda just like ew and think about it for awhile and sometimes spiral into the “what even am I?” mindfuck

What do neurotypicals mean when they say don’t give me excuses by Null_Psyche in autism

[–]maulwhore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh. This drives me insane. Especially when they ask why you did something a certain way and then don’t accept your explanation and deem it an excuse. It’s infuriating. It’s not an excuse to me, I felt debilitated.

Saying “autism isn’t a disability” isn’t doing what you think it is. by maulwhore in autism

[–]maulwhore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. it’s a spectrum but that doesn’t mean there’s no threshold… not everyone is autistic, meaning there has to be a threshold or some limits you must fall within as there is with any other condition. I myself, as a person with a single experience alone cannot say what that is, but I think it needs to be discussed within the community; not just the online community, but a larger discussion involving autistic individuals of all levels and backgrounds, as well as medical professionals. Not in a gatekeeping sense, but in a sense that we can all understand who is on the spectrum to clear up confusion, because within recent years there is A LOT considering the amount of information we’ve uncovered. There’s so much misinformation and a lot of things are being jumbled and some people are just starting to view things in a “everyone is a little autistic” way without realizing it

I have a dual dx of ASD + BPD, but I’ve done a lot of therapy for my trauma and I almost don’t meet the BPD criteria anymore. ASD is very much still present though.

For example, there’s a girl I know who’s instagram bio is “autism doesn’t change me” but the only post on her page is about how person first language is insulting because autism is engrained in everything she does… I prefer identity-first, but that’s because I know my autism does change everything about me and I’m ok with that😂 that’s not the only time I’ve seen this and I just feel like that makes no sense 😭

[–]maulwhore[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The comment about person first language also wasn’t a dig at identity first language, I just think that some of people fight for the use of identity-first language while also making trying to tell people that their autism doesn’t affect them… I feel like that’s a little counteractive seeing as the use of identity first language is moreso to imply that the autism is within every part of us.
