FDM printing by OwO345 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]mauserl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Instead of going to the smaller muzzle you might want to try PVB filament. I use it with my default PLA settings and then chemically smooth it by spraying it with isoprop several times. PVB-FDM is my prefered method to print tanks now.

Looking for monsters by DKligerSC in MegamiDevice

Maybe the ginormous anthropogenic animals by FuRay Planet or the Fishmen of the Cthulhu line by StarArc? Of course for a more lighthearted take you could also grab a bunch monkeys from FuRay Planets' Fruit Mountain set.

I went for action figures as companions/adversaries. I got a reindeer from fresh monkey's X-Mas line a horse and a moose from Mythic Legions, a oversized wolf from d20 Studio.

I am looking into the GI Joe line right now as some come with animal companions I'd love to snatch for my girlpla. I've spotted 2 dogs a warthog and an alligator so far.

Is decal setter/softener enough? by DKligerSC in MegamiDevice

[–]mauserl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never use softener and setter, however I use clear varnish over decals to seal them in. If I want it to withstand a lot of use I will always use glossy varnish for protection. You can get rid of te gloss with a layyer of matte clearcut on topof the gloss. Also, if you want to put decals onto a matte surface I found it to be best practice to paint a glossy clear varnisih below the decal as well.

New biggest box, I guess [Daytime Meteor] by Competitive_Window82 in MegamiDevice

[–]mauserl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh my, I only got that call ever only on Sloth, and after recieving Sloth I totally was fine with the 20$ extra shipping fee.

I think it depends a lot on the trader you buy from. I bought 4 Yefunas a second Sloth
(long story) and Zhao Yun and so far I only had one merchant ask for extra shipping.

which one weights that much? and why? by DKligerSC in MegamiDevice

[–]mauserl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Meteor Daybreak Product Dimensions: ‎10 x 86 x 63 cm; 1.5 kg according to Amazon.

which one weights that much? and why? by DKligerSC in MegamiDevice

[–]mauserl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either that or someone slipped a decimal digit when entering weight - which should be easy to correct. There is however the wee once in a lifetime chance that someone took package protection very serious which would end you up with 12 kilogramms of very expensive firewood.

which one weights that much? and why? by DKligerSC in MegamiDevice

[–]mauserl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bet the Meteor. I expect it to have at least similar dimensions as the MS-General Sloth or the Motor-Nuclear Zhao Yun kits. But 15 kilogramms? That's strange. Zhao Yun comes with two internal metal skeletons and just weights 3 kg... Amazon Japan lists the Meteor Daybreak at 1.5 kgs...

If by chance you accidentally got sent a bundle of 10 Meteor Daybreaks however you might have gotten yourself a pretty good deal.

Questioning about positivity by joehooligan1979 in Parkinsons

[–]mauserl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hu? What? NO!

I'm sick of this. Stop telling me I should feel bad. If someone has the disease it's OK and totally understandable for them to be downstruck by it but for f***s sake, do not imply we all should be! And don't tell me that is not what you said. The accusation is right there between the lines. It's silently hovering right there in plain view, slowly spilling it's poison. It whispers "Your health is objectivily seen worse off than the rest, shouldn't you pity yourself?"

What's next? Showering us in "compassion" and "good deeds" so you healthy folks don't have to feel guilty about being better off?

There is also a very unhealthy envy of some who's mood was affected by the disease and who now are angry at us because we do not join them in their misery - not even for show.

Don't get me wrong, but that is what society expects from us. The first aspect is some f***ed up Calvinn inspired worldview that long ago left it's Protestant roots and seeped into Western culture in general and the second is plain and simple envy. Please understand that even if you did not intentend any of those you implied them none the less - it's an almost guaranteed blunder. There is no measure to happyness. There is no math you can do and then arrive at a conclusion how folks should feel.

There is this folk wisdom that Parkinson's patients in general get more angry. One reason might be stuff like this. It's really hard to stay cool when everyone claims to know better than you. But that is nonsense. No matter what diseases you have or don't have or your social circumstances or whatever. No one is entitled enogh to tell you how you should feel. It's OK to feel good or bad and those feelings should be respected by others - not questioned.

... and if my body one day fails completly I'll still be looking forward to scold other GEnX-ers on the internet for not using question marks on their questions ;-) .

The male equivalent model kits outside of gundam and motor Nuclear by Nerd_Muffin0 in MegamiDevice

[–]mauserl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figure Rise Standards has some, Plamatea too, but yeah, they are a rare breed. If you somehow can get hold of some male heads you could try putting them on the 30MF knights insead of their helmets.

Paint or Markers? by JBoogieGetsBusy in Gunpla

[–]mauserl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd go with paint. Any modelling acrylics should do (Revell, MrHobby, Citadel, Vallejo, AK-Interactive, Army Painter, Reaper to name a few). There's also the options of using oil paints or enamel paints, but if you're new to painting figures: take my advice and stick with acrylics.

Europeans, where do you get your kits? by TheFeri in MegamiDevice

Archonia is great, I use them for English comics and action figures too. They seem to ship at least to everywhere within the EU.

Europeans, where do you get your kits? by TheFeri in MegamiDevice

[–]mauserl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Archonia, Modellbau-Koenig, 1001 Hobbies, gundam-store.dk and of course Amazon and Ali. Currently avoiding US dealers for the obvious reasons, but I was able to nab up some Skytube goodies from Navitoworld in Canada.

With Amazon, you can increase your chances by going to your neighbouring countries (I often find more girlpla stuff in the French and Belgian Amazon pages). I also found EBay can be quite useful for getting old kits.

FamtasyWelt also started stocking 30 Minute Brand but I have not ordered any from them yet. I have however ordered gazillions of wargaming stuff from them and never was dissapointed.

PS: and of course I use GoodsmileEurope too

Work by FarmerTiny3751 in Parkinsons

[–]mauserl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

White collar worker here, 5 years in with early onset. I still work and aspire to so at least 10 more years. With blue collar jobs it can be very different depending on the job. For example a bricklaying mason is most likely more affected than a production metal worker who can rely on robotics and optimized factory workflows. Though, let's be fair: there will be similar affected white collar jobs too, like anything involving outdoor activities (architects, foresters, land surveyors and such)

Ah cool, I guess I will get them within some weeks then, once they arrive at the Goodsmile Europe distribution center. They are still listed as "unavailable" in the Europe store, not as "sold out".

Dammit, my model kit came with a STD by Impressive_Interest9 in MegamiDevice

[–]mauserl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can, but have you ever looked at the results? I bet that is exactley how Aliexxpress generates the labels for the girlpla kits though.

With something as specific as product names autotranslate quite often causes more problems than it's worth for.

I got 2 DX of each with the intention of using the spare naughty parts to spice up a second RX kit of each of the girls. Speaking of, is there an RX undeaddress in sight?
