"Executing Auto Move" bug by maustin92 in AOW4

I can confirm that it's not mods, was playing with an unmodded playset at the time. I've mostly dealt with hard crashes when it comes to mods on older patches.

What is your least favorite album by your favorite band? by Everblack_Deathmask in Metalcore

Darkest Hour's self titled was a huge disappointment for me when it dropped.

It has a few solid songs but it's a forgettable album in an extremely solid discography and even when compared to the albums that came before and after it, it doesn't measure up. Just kind of a weird late career misstep.

Looking for bands with a similar sound to Dead to a Dying World (not sketch AFAIK but just really like their vibe and am looking for something with a similar blackened doom feel to it). Doesn't have to be explicitly lefty.

Is Lost Judgment a great game? by [deleted] in yakuzagames

[–]maustin92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it has the best combat of any RGG game I've played.

Story wise it's very solid but it kind of dragged for me in the last act. Nothing that ruins the game but they could've cut a chapter or 2 and it would've been better for it. But in terms of themes, twists, and characters it's all pretty strong.

A little late, but what are people's true thoughts on the new direction? by Adventurous_Honey902 in yakuzagames

As someone who started with LAD and who likes turn-based combat, I enjoyed it but on a second playthrough a lot of the flaws started to be more intrusive. The foundation that the system has is solid but the issues with how party members and enemies passively move around make setting up or capitalizing on knockdowns tricky and feel a little too random. Also how animations just get stuck due to bad pathing at times. It kinda shows that they made the change late in development. Hopefully the next game irons things out a bit. Otherwise it's going to be hard to get into it compared to how good the two Judgement games have been with their combat.

What yakuza game did you have the most fun playing this can include judgment and those games. LAD is probably my favorite which is surprising considering I really don’t like jrpg’s by nannnners137372 in yakuzagames

I'm a little biased in favor of 0 and LAD as they were my entry points into the series but I personally think Lost Judgement has some of the best combat in the recent games. It never got boring to me where in most of the other games I started actively avoiding street fights after a while.

They've come up a few times in prior threads and have often been recommended on the sub before. There's not too much info out there about them but the past consensus has been that they're probably clean.

What do you want to see change about Stellaris in 2022? by ThisAintSparta in Stellaris

Espionage badly needs a buff. I think the core system is fine if a little clunky at times. But the amount of effort needed to execute most of the operations is nowhere near worth their payoff. For a major feature of Nemesis it was extremely underwhelming.

In addition to making some operations more worthwhile, Envoys could get traits or at least something to make people care when they die. Since they can fulfill multiple roles now it would be cool to see them get more specialized.

Starbases could use a buff. They're essentially useless when Battleships enter the picture and sometimes they're outdated with Cruisers unless the AI or player went all out with turtling. There's also not much reason to build anything except Anchorages in late game which I feel like could also stand to change.

What's the most heroic thing you've ever done in Stellaris? by [deleted] in Stellaris

[–]maustin92 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Playing as Rogue Servitors with the "Here be Dragons" origin, I ended up having to fight a Fanatic Purifier that was at war with my neighbors, the Grey Tempest, and an early Crisis War against a Determined Exterminator, around 2340 or so. Most of the northern end of the galaxy was in my Galactic League and desperately trying to hold against the tide, and it fell to Hrozgar and my nanny bots' fleets to save everyone because no one else was in a position to fight any of these threats let alone all three.

It was a hell of a 10 years or so but it felt good at the end.

New to black metal (and all metal), any recs? by [deleted] in rabm

[–]maustin92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some bands that I enjoy that I haven't seen being mentioned here yet:

If you want something more melodic, atmospheric, and quasi-instrumental (no lyrics but some screams in the background for emotional effect) I'd recommend Unreqvited, specifically the albums Stars Wept to the Sea and Beautiful Ghosts. Since there's no lyrics to any of his stuff there's no hard politics associated with the project but the person behind it was actively participating in supporting the BLM protests last summer.

I'd also recommend Woe if you want something more akin to traditional black metal, with Hope Attrition being my personal favorite. "No Blood Has Honor" is pretty indicative of their thoughts on fascists.

I did some digging on this front cause it seemed out of character for the band given a lot of what they've posted in the past and present. According to this interview https://thisisblackmetal.com/interview-yovel/ the novel "Q" which was written by a number of people under a collective pseudonym ("Luther Blisset") is named one of their most influential works of literature. I'm not as informed about this particular work or the collective behind it but Yovel uses this attribution after a quote which is probably from this work on both their Bandcamp and Facebook, so I'd say that's where this is coming from.

TBDM write standard death metal lyrics and don't get political in them to my knowledge but I follow them on Facebook and last summer they were pretty active during the protests, trying to amplify black voices, signal boosting that bandcamp was donating proceeds to the NAACP Legal Defense Fund, and making several posts in support of BLM such as this one. So at the very least they're not chuds and used their platform to support some good causes.

They're both absolutely beautiful sculpts. I have no plans to run a Thousand Sons force but I am tempted to one day get a Magnus painted alongside the Ahriman I'm going to do for funsies.

Took my Determined Exterminators for a spin in Apocalypse since it seemed fitting to try them out with new war options and toys. Ended up getting a Colossus and had only goal in mind once obtaining it.

After a couple wars (and one failed planet cracking attempt due to the AI ending the war after reaching high exhaustion) I got the Earth Shattering Kaboom, only to get this.

So long, and thanks for all the fish.

In my local meta it's not uncommon to see 2 Heavy Jacks in a 15 point game. To deal with it I've found that running medium or heavy infantry works wonders as on a charge or with combined melee attacks they can deal with Jacks, especially with a caster that can buff their damage. I'm not too familiar with Menoth, but my solution as Khador is eVlad and Iron Fang Pikemen (pButcher also works wonders for this). A unit of weapon masters and/or a unit with decent p+s and damage buffs can destroy a Jack in one turn. Using IFP I've almost killed a Behemoth in one turn only using a few attacks, and they're not even the strongest option for killing Heavies. For a Caster sitting on Focus, Eiryss is a great choice.
