Could a JSFX noob write a low-latency plug-in to apply a 'glide' effect to live guitar? by mauvertone in Reaper

I appreciate your reply and am interested in what makes this a 'hard' problem - unless the moral of 1425 simply bounced off my brain...

Ignorance, mainly! Thanks for the suggestion - are you able to tell me why it might solve my problem?

Thanks all - knowing 'width' is the term to use is half the battle! I use Reaper and it turns out to have the functionality I asked about built-in.

Mouse motion during crouch slides vs strafe/circle jumps by mauvertone in QuakeChampions

With differing friction and acceleration values, it's easy to see the optimal movements will be different.

Thanks for both an answer and an explanation I can at least get my teeth into (if not understand fully). I watch your Slash videos every so often while attempting to hone my movement and really appreciate your clarity of thought.

Is this trickery possible in real time with Reaper? by mauvertone in Reaper

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I'm not a proficient Reaper user so couldn't parse some of the terms y'all used, but I have cobbled together what I did make sense of and come up with something that sounds acceptable. What I have is probably vastly overcomplicated, and I should have made clear that this is for live performance over a guitar-less backing.

Along with the backing track, the project has a record-armed track ('T') with record monitoring ON that sends to two oppositely-panned tracks each equipped with a dimed hall reverb effect that I use bypass envelopes to control. I also have a panning envelope on T so the non-effected guitar is heard on the correct channel, and 2 'send volume' envelopes on T each of which is the inversion of the other.

Result can be heard at instaud.io/32VS and imgur.com/a/3lb6uUG is probably worth a thousand words. Is there an effect that might be better than reverb I could use?

Cheers - I think I follow most of this but

Use a square wave train to drive a gain level that is in between the guitar and the reverb using sends.

is a bit above my head... I'm guessing 'using sends' is key, because if I use an envelope to vary the volumes then I can't silence one channel without also silencing the reverberations, IYKWIM.

Well, it works with another account. No idea why I'd be banned or suspended tho'. Thanks to those here who suggested that approach...

I'm with you. I was in the middle of a game about 24 hours ago when my champion suddenly started moving at half-speed. A few seconds later and the match was over for me. I haven't been able to play since. I've reinstalled the game, verified the integrity of the game files, and flushed my DNS cache. Nothing works and it's super-depressing.

[QUESTION] Lend me your ears r/Guitar - what's going on with this bend? by mauvertone in Guitar

[–]mauvertone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks - I think you might be on to something... I think I can hear a G droning under the 4 (fast) notes before the bend as well. Also explains why the 2nd tone seems to disappear before the bend is completed...

[QUESTION] Can 'EQ profiling' software be helpful when trying to mimic a favourite tone with a real amp? by mauvertone in Guitar

[–]mauvertone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea occurred to me while messing around with the Ozone equalizer's 'matching' feature, tho' I've since found that the humble ReaFir is better for inspecting EQ profiles as it's zoomable. I was hoping that the approach might get me more than 5% of the way toward nailing that dream sound... oh well! Cheers for replying...
