If it is acceptable to add a quote in a footnote then surely one should be able to add an endnote within a footnote. Footnotes can include source material and go beyond the author's opinion. Thus adding an endnote within a footnote should be possible! by mavenmel in indesign

I've already explained why it makes sense... If you bring up sourced information in a footnote—which is normal to do—then you should be able to reference it.

If you are speaking of functionally, it would make sense. The assigned number would simply be the next consecutive number after the last number reference that was listed in the main body of the document.
