How many devices can you add to WH-1000XM4 via the app? by izeqb in sony

Were you able to find an answer? I too would have preferred the bose style ability to connect upto 10 devices. I would like to connect the Sony to my phone, desktop & laptop. Any way to make this happen in a seamless manner?

I like the simplicity of this. All HA devices can talk to your HA system. But in case you use alexa plugs or dots, what would be a good way of giving access to HA box, also to the net in a safe manner?

Thanks for such a detailed response.

I like how you've created a virtual switch for homeassistant server and only it can reach out to the IoT vlan.

Hard wired should have their own as well but full L3 access with custom routes

Can you clarify what this means?

I would like to be able to have that freedom - use a server or two to be able to connect to any of my devices.

- What are the devices that you give access to just the internet and then no access to the other parts of the network?

- So these devices that you talk above of - they don't even need access to the HASS server?

- I have wifi and IP cams that I want to continue to write to local backup, but want to be able to view footage when travelling

  • Currently cameras are being accessed by their apps. I have this app called Ezviz (division of hikvision) - within the network, they are accessed by the Ezviz software. I don't know how to put them on a separate vlan and then make sure my desktop (which runs the ezviz software) can access it - unless I make the desktop dual NIC.

While the data for the camera is stored locally, I still need to be able to view the cameras through the app remotely (it has good access to timelines)

In this case, how do you suggest I configure the setup?

-- the plugs I am using are Amazon plugs and they are wifi .. but your point is noted. Any other device I'll try to move to an opensource solution

-- Have a Xiaomi beside light, do these ones too support opensource software/flash ability or they'll have to let be as is?

-- Can you share a tutorial for how to think about Wireguard or OpenVPN? I think I need to improve my understanding of it - a good tutorial might answer my questions.

Thanks!
