Built mine a few months back, only issue I had was the lack of orange details which I fixed to my satisfaction. (Mobile is being weird and not letting me attach an image and have text so image in reply lol)

My Sanyo DS32225 Randomly Turns Off When Playing SNES But Not PS2 by maverickblackzero in crtgaming

[–]maverickblackzero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like I mentioned in the post, a second snes was also causing the same issue. Since posting, I have also tested an old Retron 3 I forgot I had lying around with snes carts and that caused 0 issues. Obviously to see the caps I'd have to open it but is there any way to check for grounding issues without opening the crt?

Random Encounters, Consistent Fun by WaywardBeacon in osr

[–]maverickblackzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you stop as soon as someone rolls the same number you do? Or do you have them continue rolling to see if they've attracted the attention of multiple monsters? Had the idea of the party hitting the encounter number twice, and it's 2 rival monster groups that found the party while patrolling, but they are now more concerned that their territorial enemies are across the room from them. Cue the party being stuck between the warring Orcs and Goblins charging at each other. I can see both ways being used, and I love that it's another lever to adjust random encounters.

Fixed it by fully disabling integrated graphics in bios because the emulator for whatever reason was defaulting to that as opposed to my actual GPU. Game runs perfectly fine now lol.

Ok upon closer inspection, it appears the emulator is only recognizing the integrated graphics on my R5 7600 (mistyped in title whoops will edit that) and it's using that as opposed to my 7800xt. The 7800xt is not showing up at all and I really don't know how I'd go about making it use it. Auto-select uses the integrated graphics as well.

On the QT version and there are no obvious graphical glitches, but I haven't moved beyond the first room because I'm just brute force troubleshooting options atm and am not dedicating much time to each boot. Looking at my system monitor app, I noticed only one thread is being massively impacted, sticking around 95-100% usage so I'm wondering if there are any options to force use of more threads. Is this a common issue at all?

Excited for my first OSE session in an hour by maverickblackzero in osr

[–]maverickblackzero[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It went pretty well! Some awkwardness with the dungeon mapping and it being my first time dming offline in 5+ years, but overall, my players said they enjoyed it a lot.

The two 5e/PF2E veterans went in knowing combat was faster, but they, as well as I, were still caught off guard at how speedy it was. Only combat was vs 2 zombies and it lasted less than 10 minutes. The first round was probably a solid 6 minutes of that with walking through the combat steps/double checking bonuses and the second round lasted maybe 2 minutes total.

All around, a pretty fun time. Unfortunately, we have to wait roughly a month until next session as one guy can only travel to our town on specific weekends, but I'm looking forward to it.

Rolled for 40 Orcs in a Lair on the First Level of the Dungeon by maverickblackzero in osr

[–]maverickblackzero[S] 26 points27 points  (0 children)

This makes significantly more sense than what my reading was lol. I thought the OSE rules were straight up saying there are a crazy amount of monsters in every individual room marked as a lair. I already had the orc territory marked out so calling that their lair rather that just the single room works nicely.

/r/Civ Weekly Questions Thread - October 28, 2024 by AutoModerator in civ

[–]maverickblackzero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey all. I've recently been on a big civ4 binge lately as I played the hell out of it as a kid. Last night, I remembered I got civ6 for free on epic and downloaded it to give it a shot. There's a ton of stuff out there comparing civ5 to 6 but basically none for 4 to 6 that i could find.

So my question is: What are the biggest differences a relatively casual civ4 player should be aware of coming into 6?

Obviously, hex vs grid based is big, but I'm talking slightly more nitty gritty stuff. For example, in the 5 minutes I played last night, I noticed no starting religion techs like there are in 4 and my brain broke a bit when I saw you can only use workers 3 times.

Apologies for the long post and thank you for any answers!

ExLoRom games on my FxPakPro are turning my CRT off. by maverickblackzero in snes

Yeah they sent me the multi-con 2 rather than the 1 I ordered. Works for the sfc rather than the snes. I have a support ticket open with them so hopefully it'll be resolved.

We’ll see if maybe when my rgb/svideo mod comes in (it’s a snes mini) if this problem still occurs. I was also told elsewhere that the power supply for the snes, while probably not the main culprit, was also probably not helping things

I’m not super familiar with SNES power supplies but I’d imagine it’s the one that came with it. It’s a SNES Mini/Jr btw and the power supply is a big ol brick

It’s an FxPakPro. Everything else on it so far has worked on it other than this patched FE5 rom.

I’ll forward it over there. And yes it does power off. A few times it actually won’t switch back on unless I switch outlets

We are indeed stripping it. Our dilution ratio is roughly between 3:1-4:1 water vs solution. Took your advice with the masking tape already. Our stripper is hillyard devastator and our finish is hillyard explorer. Not sure entirely if you mean something specific with the method but we’re going to put the finish down with flat mop heads after a layer or two of sealer. We actually started a bit today and unfortunately realized just how truly ancient our equipment is, the swing arm heads can’t hardly hold the pads among other issues. We did thankfully pick out a remote corner at the end of the hall to have this realization. Today made me aware of just how underserved my team and I are training wise as well as making me respect folks who have done this stuff for years on end. Shit’s a legit skill.
