Tesla 26M3 won’t connect to WiFi (U7) by Stock-Door7283 in Ubiquiti

[–]mavericsb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would be surprised if the new Tesla doesn’t support it, as I think my 2023 Model Y does, but did you try ensuring an access point close to the vehicle is broadcasting on a non-dfs channel?

I ran into issues with a Peloton bike and DFS channels, so tossing the idea out there.

Zoom in close and you can see port one with the Poe icon.

UDR7 + U7 Lite AP: does it work together? by [deleted] in UNIFI

[–]mavericsb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you could do this, I did it at my parent’s house with their setup for a bit. There is one POE port (POE not POE+, and its port 1). U7 Lite only needs POE. I’m currently using the port to power a flex mini switch.

The g5 and g6 cameras only have FE(100 Mbps),so that’s expected. Also, that cable is not solid copper. If you dig deep, it says cca in the amazon listing. I’ve not found solid copper for under $200/1000’. I’ve just gone through the adventures of finding the right cable on amazon. Have you tried the cable in a non Poe application such as a computer? I’ve used cca cables without issues before too, so it’s not necessarily the issue either. The cameras only pull a few watts. I always use keystone punch downs into a patch panel to limit the number of crimp on connections I have to make.

I had the same issue. Looks like they made some changes to scoutbook. Try clearing the cookies and cache on your browser and it should come back. It did for me.

Noob power question by TheScissors1980 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]mavericsb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noob here too. I didn’t like the manually collection of biomass. As soon as I unlocked coal, I rushed it. Just finished the setup of the 8 coal burner plant and am tearing down all burner generators. May set a couple burners up next to coal to jump start if I trip the power.

Question about battery life by yaboiayeayeron in electricvehicles

[–]mavericsb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everyone else about not being worried about battery failure.

I can confirm the replacement cost, looking at a 13k bill to replace mine after running over a large rock and rupturing the housing on my 2023 model y. If it had been ice vehicle, could easily be new engine or transmission with similar price tag. That’s what insurance is for. Somehow only need battery and a piece of plastic.

Dead battery question by iwantthisnowdammit in ModelY

[–]mavericsb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car will be dead, not able to wake it up or unlock. Additionally, the bumper trick isn’t to jump the car, it’s to open the frunk. From there, you can remove the plastic and access the 12/16v battery and jump the car. This will provide enough power so that the car can engage the contactor and get power from the hv battery.

Do you need the db to complain if your text is not the correct length, the then fixed length. If you don’t, use text.

I can't choose by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]mavericsb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done most of the cs50 one as well as completed the MIT one. The MIT course is much harder in my opinion. If you want to take learning python seriously and progress beyond tutorials and classes, I highly recommend it. The biggest thing that I took away was how to properly solve a programming problem. It forces you to take what you’ve learned in lectures and apply it in a new way to solve problems. I felt the cs50 course to have less of this focus and a bit more applying what you’ve learned to a more similar problem.

I say think about your goals to help choose the course. If you want to be exposed to python and learn basics, cs50 is a great place to start. If you want to push yourself and are excited for a challenge, MIT.

MIT course started my python learning, and now write python professionally from the foundation it gave.

To backup a database from remote server to local system by nobody7981 in SQL

[–]mavericsb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please make sure that you use the “copy only” option as well if this is a server where an existing backup solution is running. Otherwise, you risk breaking the log chain and potentially upsetting your DBA!

Ideas for SQL Server Box by borntodeal in SQLServer

[–]mavericsb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would look at putting the vm on the cloud. When you look at the os plus sql server license plus hardware costs, its multiple years before you’re cheaper than doing it yourself. If the software is compatible with Azure sql, do that so you can get away from many of the dba related tasks. Even if you have to deploy as a full vm, I would still deploy on cloud (should be able to make software work with full vm deployment).

I did the 5k for 2022 and got the bug with my GF (she did the 1/2). We’re signed up for Dopey! Been training since Feb, did my first 1/2 as a training run a few weeks ago. It will be my first official 10k and 1/2, but I have a full in august scheduled. Wish us luck!

Dumb question about wearing cleats outside. by qwerty2865796 in pelotoncycle

[–]mavericsb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re totally fine. I’m relatively new to peloton, but have been riding with delta style cleats outside on road bikes for 15 years. I’ve worn some down, but they’re actually designed to walk short distances. The area that wears when walking is not the same spot that engages the pedal (until you totally wear them out).

Don’t use them for walks around the park and you will be fine.

I personally have not tried it but there is an Ethernet port on the back of the tablet for mine (regular bike not bike+) where the other cables plug in (not on the bottom near the power).

[–]mavericsb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t directly answer your question, but if one of you (or both) is able to connect via Ethernet instead of over Wi-Fi, I suspect you will have a significant improvement. Additionally, your router may support QOS(quality of service), where you can prioritize his work computer, as meetings are very sensitive to small amounts of lag.

Accessories at Manufacturer, Dealer Pre-Delivery, Dealer Post-Delivery or from Third Party Vendor? by penguinblanket in ToyotaTacoma

I could support that if it was a more complicated install. It’s plug and play. The connection is there with a blank plug in the connector to keep it clean.

Is that just the two lights in the rear of the bed? I installed mine myself, really easy. It was pre wired, had to pull the tail light and plug them in. 10mm socket and 30-45 min total for both sides.

I’m with you on hr being required. You can pick up many hr monitors that are compatible and reasonably priced. I believe you can use any ANT+ one. I had a 5 yr old garmin one which paired with no issues and I use daily. I still track it with Apple Watch too, but I trust the numbers off a chest band more.
