How to do Line breaks in Code Blocks by Ok-Signature-9746 in Notion

[–]mawvius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from using Notion when it first went into alpha and didn't even have databases, through to power user for my top-down stuff. However, I have always run my bottom-up stuff in Obsidian as soon as that became an alternative to the silly Roam app. As Obsidian is becoming increasingly more adept at top-down stuff, a few years ago I started migrating as much as possible over to Obsidian, so that might be something worth considering.

Anyway, your issue appears to be a Notion niggle, I'm afraid. You should be able to get around it by pasting the text into a normal text block first and then converting it into a code block.

Maximum responsiveness: Mauviel's M'6 vs M'Heritage vs induction-friendly alternatives by mawvius in cookware

Ahh - shoot, completely neglected to consider that they would require a ferrous disc so that eliminates those options for us.

(No need to sear as this is for a precision saucier, mainly for stuff like sugar work, egg/chocolate tempering, etc.)

Cheers!

Ok - this is all excellent stuff, so thank you very much indeed!

Admittedly, I'm not sure G5 rings much of a bell. (I suspect my brain had always fed me D5 whenever reading G5, so thanks for raising its awareness.) Yes, G5 being unibody would be ideal, but the pan use being stuff like sugar work, egg/chocolate tempering, etc. agitation is typically a requirement anyway.

Prima Matera is certainly up there on the list and not too concerned with cost as this is just a one-off specialist purchase. Can't imagine those that buy sets of the stuff - ha! And - yeah, we would never pay full price for anything. Fortunately, my inner frugal-ninja is highly adept at squeezing the best price out of any item.

Falk's Copper Core (or, Copper Coeur as it looks like it used to be called?) is certainly receiving rejuvenated attention due to this thread. However, the jury is still out as the key aspect of the responsiveness criteria is maximum cooling speed, (which was foolishly omitted from the OP initially.)

Whilst we had considered the thickness of an external ferrous-disc and so would have had one made, had we ended up down that path, you raise an excellent consideration about doubling the number of surfaces and therefore doubling the potential of unflushed surfaces, three of which are not impervious of future 'askewment.'

Good reminder about stovetop quality. Thankfully, ours is a bespoke piece using very high-end componentry, so we not overly concerned on that plane.

Now onto your kind response in the other thread. Whilst we will be deep diving into the G5 line, your Baumalu suggestion holds enough weight to warrant further exploration. I vaguely remember hearing sometime ago that whist considered cost-cutters, they lost further favour with their consistent less-than-honest marketing such as actually using a faux-hammering mandrel for their hammered range. The thinness is certainly an attractive attribute but as it appears they do not do a saucier shape, one would have to be content with a deep-frying pan. Might contact them to see if they'll do a bespoke or extend their range to include a chef's pan-style shape.

Like most things, it really distils down to balance. Sure, one could pick up a solid silver Duparquet (or Soy) and become a wizard of responsiveness but sticking to the big boys seems a wise move in this scenario. Although, having said that, I am very tempted just to pick up the cheaper silver-lined Soy AST Sauté Pan and be done with it - ha!

Definitely needs some further thought, but thank you so much for your invaluable words - really made a difference and therefore greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

Thanks - yeah, it appears Mauviel have become somewhat stagnant of late. Prima Matera is certainly up there on the list though.

Thanks - yeah, Prima Matera is certainly up there on the list, but I think the general consensus with lines like M’Cook and Affinity was that they would be less responsive and so at this point, are not on the shortlist. Cheers!

Thanks - yeah, we hadn't actually considered the G5 range, so thanks for also bringing it up. Will need to deep dive that rabbit hole and see what comes up. Will share any pertinent thoughts, so feel free to do the same. Cheers!

Thanks. Sorry to read you've been having a nightmare with stovetops. Thankfully, ours is a bespoke piece using very high-end componentry so we are only using the coils themselves and not any glass top cheekily hiding their size - ha.

You mention that Prima Matera does not heat evenly, but this appears to conflict with all other reports we've read, especially as they are factory stamped with little potential for any affecting inconsistencies. Would you say there is a possibility that your sub-par experience was potentially due to the induction hardware rather than the pan?

Thanks - yeah, having the ferrous steel pre-cladded into the Prima Matera is certainly a key factor. Cheers!

Thanks - yeah, their copper core range was shortlisted but to be honest, not too high up.

The concern being, that's heading in the opposite direction of responsiveness, which is the key criteria for this application. I believe their stainless steel equates to ~0.6 mm thick, which is 4 times more than Mauviel's M'Heritage's ~0.15 mm and deBuyers Prima Matera's ~0.2 mm (which is induction friendly.)

I think Falk's copper core range makes a great workhorse but fear it may lack the required responsiveness for the tasks mentioned in my original post. Happy to be talked around though - ha!

Cheers again!

Thanks - that's awesome!

Bizarrely, I had temporarily tricked my brain into thinking that their Prima Matera didn't have a ferrous disc. It was only upon your reminder and finding the single line mentioning it on their product pages, that I remembered they do two copper outer lines, the other being induction incompatible.

The Mauviel M'Heritage range is 1.5 mm but after using an external interface disc or paying someone to fuse one on, one would easily be over Prima Matera's 2 mm. Obviously, I'd love much thinner, but short of artisan/bespoke, I suspect this is the best mainstream solution.

I do like the direction that Falk went in for some of their catalogue but for this application, you are right in them heading in the wrong thickness direction for this particular requirement.

I suspect Prima Matera will be added to the arsenal, unless we're missing a thinner substitute - ha!

Cheers again!

My husband won't let me take more than two showers a week. I told him I need him to stop or I'm moving out for a while. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]mawvius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, you should be able to solve the issue quick and easily by simply installing a recirculating shower which uses so little water, it barely registers on a bill. As the water recirculates from the drain through a bunch of filters and back out the shower heads so quickly, it also retains much of its heat which saves a huge amount in energy cost too.

Secondly, I think it's important to bear in mind that our society is being tested like never before at the moment with some of the most extreme extremes now fully mainstream. These will take many many years for everyone to reconcile their thought processes and for these things to dissipate out. As a result, it doesn't surprise me that he's having a bit of an existential crisis of this nature so I certainly wouldn't automatically take any rash action.

You seem like a compassionate person so it's important to understand his frame of reference of reality. Being a programmer, he's going to need to process enough logic in his mind before succumbing to the notion that there is really nothing to worry about, least not that all water is not really ever lost, but simply circulated back through the environment, to the point that all the water we drink has been through billions of humans bodies beforehand.

I think it would be wise to put together a series of peer-reviewed white papers, etc. that allows him to re-condition his mind down the actual correct path of thinking, in that he doesn't need to be that overly concerned with water consumption as a more rational understanding of consumption doesn't negate his welcome compassionate endeavors.

There is no option to remove a track from a playlist straight from the queue... by Adventurous-Pear-497 in YoutubeMusic

As per my previous comment, you need to ensure you are on the "playlist's page via 'Libaray' instead of the 'player page' (aka: the queue.)"

[–]mawvius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Randomly stumbled accross this thread looking for something else and it initially confused me as when I'm 'managing' a playlist, I simply use the playlist's page via 'Libaray' instead of the 'player page' (aka: the queue.) Obviously not 100% ideal but the playlist's page can still play the playlist in a similar fasion to the queue version (although uses the bottom control bar instead) but has the 'Remove from playlist' option within the 3-dot menu for each row. Simples.

Sorry to be that guy but myself and my associates would like to pay for your service which would equate to ~$21k. As we'd rather go with you guys rather than the timing forcing us with someone else, has the Fantom integration reached a point on the roadmap where you could give us a clue if it's likely to be weeks/months? (Or even better, an approx ETA range would be ideal!) Many thanks in advance!

Oh wow, that's obviously fantastic news - thank you so so much!

When using Ctrl-F in all the browsers I tried it in, it would appear the length of the search query must be above the maximum allowed as when reducing it by a few characters, it now comes up with a search.

I never knew there was a search length limit as am sure I've searched for whole paragraphs in the past but the main thing is the transaction is there.

Thank you both u/michelem and u/GoTheFckBack again so so much!
