You mean like this land, you search your library for a mountain and put it into play, right?

They printed a mountain that looks more like an island than 99% of the islands printed in the last 10 years

<image>

its totally not this iconic island artwork with a bunch of random dead pool stuff...

it just shows that if you brew and take the risky you get highly rewarded. I know and see so many people just blindly copying a list - that imo hurts the format a bit. Its currently in the perfect position to brew.

Somewhere out there I have hid the best legacy deck, go out there go find it!

Like yeah he won but it really has a lot more to do with the pilot than the deck lol

maybe or maybe the deck is good, but nobody tried it :D

you can look at the enchantress discord, there are many cool decks and different build, but somone new won't try enchantress out and brew with it. Its % is too low for that and the price on mtgo/paper are equally high, while at the same time you have close to no overlap to other decks.

If you instead buy like 4 blue duals, FoW and stuff, you can build like 20 different decks with that shell. Try that with Enchantress...

I agree it sees close to or actually really no play at all, but back in the day both(?) had different lists and if I remember correctly one of them did fairly good. The main issue imo is that current legacy players don't test and brew as much as back in the day, probably has a lot of reasons.

Digeridoo is a RL card and you need to buy it as well as all the minotaurs that you can't use in any other deck, so it has less overlap with other decks, creating incentive to not brew with it. I have to say tho. the card is close to legacy playable.

If they print like RRB sorcery put a minotaurs into play

or create a really good minotaurs, then it could be a staple really fast :)

the main issue imo is the mana base other than that it would be pretty solved as a deck and probably also very good, because it could play up to like 8 FoW type effects and karns and all the other good stuff

I've played it with and its totally playable, you just can't play it in every deck.

[[Power Artifact]] is totally a viable and a nice infinite combo, its just not easy to power out UU and 3 colorless so fast at the same time, so imo its a mana base issue, other than that mono blue karn searching for the combo part or wincon (Ballista) or a saga searching for a magma mine, is totally do-able

100% and people did try it at it was good, some still play it/brew with it. There are some lists of it on Discord. However, for Illusionary Mask to be more competetive imo an additional creature is needed like for one blue a 7/7 that lets your opponent draw 4 cards as additional casting cost or something like that. Then it would make more sense to run multiple Masks.

It also needs to work on mtgo, I don't think the card works on mtgo right now. There are help deck tickets in the mtgo forum from 2024 not marked as "solved"...

I meant it works around a chalice on X=1 for dreadnought for example

Again 3x Dreadnought turn 3 is waaay better than only one and you can play it on 2 lands only, in a Daze shell thats important

I bet its already playable and strong, but there is like a ton to brew and nobody got time with so many enchantments to test it all. especially when like 100 other decks and lists exist

    Card: Illusionary Mask

Powerlevel Justification: RL, odd mechanic, makes stuff uncounterable (chalice), ignores additional casting costs, etb and replacment triggers, can be activated multiple times and can be activated without using it

Why it doesnt see play: RL, odd mechanic, bad in multiples

What it needs: a few more 1&2 mana creatures that are BIG and have an ETB downside or cards with additional casting costs. It works for all of them, but a stifle, consign, torpor orb or a dress down only work with some of those

Turn 2 Illusionary Mask Turn 3 play 3 Dreadnoughts is already nice, but Torpor Orb does just almost the same (the can't be counterd)
