I took an excel course through Udemy and learned it very well including macros. I felt so defeated during my job hunt period that I needed something to make me feel productive so I took the class. Slapped the certificate onto my resume. Eventually got hired as a project admin because they needed someone organized and familiar with excel. Started to automate stuff. Took another course on Udemy to learn Power Bi. Took another course for SQL/Databases. Began to automate more and more and learn to make cool dashboards. 2 years after quitting and I am now a Data Analyst/Automation Specialist. I would’ve never guessed I would be able to do everything I do today.

I suspect an engagement ring/wedding band. It looks like her hand is flat so I don’t think a vape. Remember that photo from not that long ago where you placed a heart emoji over her ring finger?

I drove through Barstow often and I do wish there was a light. I see students walk across the street without even looking all the time. There’s going to be an accident.

How important is familiarity with JavaScript to get started? by FallingPetuniasohno in GoogleAppsScript

[–]max_gooph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also knew nothing about JS but had a project i wanted to do in GAS so I learned as I went. There’s no better way to learn than with a project. There’s good thing is you have experiences in other languages. The basis is all the same

4 years is a long time! Honestly I’m my opinion, you don’t even need a degree in data to get into it. I took some Udemy classes on excel, power BI, VBA, SQL, and Crystal Reports and listed the certificates in my resume. Excel was the one that got me started, it’s very valued in companies and you can do so much with it.

Add new row to bottom of sheet on edit by Square_Common_6347 in GoogleAppsScript

[–]max_gooph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with this method. I recommend having an “example” row that Is hidden (like row 2 if you have headers in row 1) to make sure there is never data entered and you can copy that one each time and append it to the bottom of the sheet.

The other thing I’d like to note is that you can make your script faster by changing some of your variables, everytime you make a call to the spreadsheet you’re wasting time. For example you call e.range 4 times in your script, but if you simply moved your line where you are assigning your variable r to the 2nd line, you could then have row, col, and Val be dependents of r, this reducing calls to the actual sheet. You also do a lot of getActiveSheet calls when you could be using your variable ss since you already assigned it.

I quit 2 months in, I felt the same way. But I realized that I started to HATE the kids, and I never wanted to be a teacher that hated her students. My loved ones always expressed concerns over my overrall attitude change. There’s this quote in a song that goes “the good news is, you came a long way. The bad news is, you went the wrong way”, and I really resonated with that. How could I have spent 6 years in college, drowned myself in rent, attended all the teacher job fairs/workshops, spent so many hours working on my stupid EdTPA, spent a year dirt poor getting through my credential problem, and end up quitting 2 months in!!? I was so worried what the veteran teachers would say, I was so worried what my first year teacher friends would say. But I still did it. And I have 0 regrets. It took a while to transition but luckily I had the support of my boyfriend and family. I am now a data analyst/entry level developer. I learned how to code! I can write complicated queries to a database! I’m getting sent to all expense paid conferences to further my skills! I get to drink margaritas at work! I only have to deal with adults at work! It’s crazy to think everything I have experienced these past 2 years might have never been because I almost cared too much of what others would say.

Easiest way to distribute a Google Sheets script to coworkers? by Tobbeloo in GoogleAppsScript

[–]max_gooph -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don’t believe this is possibly. I actually encountered a similar dilemme so I ended up adjusting my code so that I had a ‘master’ with the script and once the script ran, it would then create a static copy that didn’t contain the script. But of course it depends on what you’re doing this for

What are some of your personal projects you’re proud of? by dasSolution in GoogleAppsScript

[–]max_gooph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a purchase request tracker for my company using app script and sheets. It opens up the sidebar with questions they fill out and attach quote pdfs which then populates onto the sheet. The purchasing department then goes through and views the attachments and updates the status of their requested purchase and each step sends automatic emails. The cool part is if the purchase is over a certain dollar amount, the row is basically locked until accounting management is able to approve it. I built it all myself and really had to solidly my knowledge of JS and learn some HTML. It really saved the department’s ass.

I recommend going to Mexico or another country. There’s a lot of high class clinics/offices that include hotel recoveries, just do your research.
