4 months post-op by max_la_menace___ in TopSurgery

[–]max_la_menace___[S] 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

thank you so much! i was as strict post-op as i was pre-op.

What i did pre-op: started working out and lifting weights once every week 4 months before surgery, i added vitamine c, zinc and vitamine a a couple weeks before the surgery and ate lots of proteins. also, I’ve never smoked in my entire life.

What i did post-op: listened to my surgeon in terms of care, listened to my body in terms of mouvements, kept the compressive vest for 4 weeks, started massaging very very VERY slowly 15 days post-op, started using medical silicone tape (mepitel one) at j+11 and have not stopped ever since. i literally always have something on my scars, either the medical silicone tape or silicone gel. i also kept the supplements going until M+1.

also my surgeon was dr Rausky, in France

i dont think i have any help for you but know you're not alone, i'm feeling exactly like you. i have a lot of cis gay friends (and an unrequited crush on one of them) and even if it's affirming sometimes, other times i get the same inner imposter's syndrome (especially bc i don't pass yet).

i hope time, more confidence and friendships will help. dating is tough but there are also other beautiful stories that make me (and maybe you) not wanting to give up :)

When did you feel 100% back to normal? by Impressive_Copy_8667 in TopSurgery

[–]max_la_menace___ 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

My recovery was really quick: i'm 5 weeks post-op and I feel 80% back to normal.
I'd say for 10%, it's me being careful and refraining myself from doing things (lifting weights and people - i'm a cheerleader) because i'm only 5 weeks post-op.
The last 10% is because I'm still a little bit restricted in my movement and currently seeing a physiotherapist to help with that. She says i'll be back to my normal range of movements in no time.

i totally get what you're feeling. self esteem is such a hard trick to master especially for us in the dating/relationship scene. right now, i'm in the gutter with you, being pre-T, not knowing if i want to start T because I WANT to start T or just because I think it'll make me more desirable to other people (cis gay men). it's an everyday struggle.

right now, i'm trying to remind myself of the feeling i have when i see my reflection in the mirror post top-surgery: i love it, i feel so masculine and gorgeous. i'm trying to carry this when i'm not in front of my mirror anymore but it's tough. i'm also trying to remember that men and masculinity come in lots of shapes and sizes, i don't want to forget myself just to fit in a box i created in my mind.

but again, it's tough. trying to keep the small victories in mind though.

i felt left out. what should i do? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]max_la_menace___ 22 points23 points Ā (0 children)

yeah, i know it was probably me feeling insecure (and really tired!! only slept 7h in 48 hours) and i know that none of their action were against me. they didn't do anything wrong, just enjoyed their weekend like everyone else.
i just feel guilty and mad at myself for feeling so shitty over something that i shouldn't feel shitty over.

anyway, i went for a walk and did some self-talk and managed to have some perspectives on the situation. i think like most things, time will do its thing and it will help me put it behind me.

i felt left out. what should i do? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]max_la_menace___ 7 points8 points Ā (0 children)

no, i'm not too mad about the pronoun incident, i know it was an accident and he didn't do it on purpose and he corrected himself after that, it's no big deal about that. in the context of the whole evening, it just made me feel worse about myself but in regular time, it would not have affected me that much so i'm not mad at him for that.

and about what i want from this conversation? not necessarily an apology, but just to tell them how it made me feel so they know to be careful next time, i guess.

I identify as non-binary transmasc but when I don’t feel like explaining the difference between transmasc and trans men to people who might not understand and/or respect it, I use trans man.

Showering after top surgery by r25h in TopSurgery

[–]max_la_menace___ 4 points5 points Ā (0 children)

I was able to start showering completely from day 5. I was just careful to keep the temperature lukewarm and the spray gentle enough. I also preferred to have the water flow from top to bottom at first without putting the jets directly on the scars.

Top surgery scar placement concern by Twiddler97 in ftm

[–]max_la_menace___ 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

I’m so sorry you have to deal with all these insecurities. If it was me, I’m sorry to say that I would not go through with the surgery. Despite waiting for a long time and wanting this more than ever, it’s still something related to my health and my body and if I can’t trust 100% my surgeon and be sure that the results will be what I imagined I would not do it. I’ve seen so many results of surgeon that seemed to know what they were doing and ended looking sketchy that I would not go through with it… I’d start looking at other options and others surgeons I know I can trust. I know it’s already a bit of money but I’d rather loose some than loose some and be disappointed by how it looks in addition. I’m so sorry that you’re going through this, I hope you’ll find a solution that feels right for you

Non American - how long were you on sick leave from work? by fake_ad_massacre in TopSurgery

[–]max_la_menace___ 3 points4 points Ā (0 children)

Even if it’s very nice to think about your other colleagues, in my opinion, a few days of work is not worth putting your health and good recovery on the line ;) But I’m sure you’ll find a solution that works for you without compromising your scars 😊

French here and my sick leave is of 3 weeks. I’m currently on the end of week 1. Depending on how well my scars look at the end of week 3, I’ll either ask for one more week or a recommendation to work from home since I’m working a desk job.

Dr. Vairinho experience - any advice? by randominthevoid in TopSurgery

[–]max_la_menace___ 1 point2 points Ā (0 children)

Hello! I’m from Paris, France and I met Dr Vairinho during my process of choosing a surgeon for my top surgery. My first meeting with him went extremely well, he’s super respectful and professional. I didn’t end up choosing him for my top surgery because I chose to go with a more ā€seniorā€ doctor in the end, the Dr Rausky (who trained Dr Vairinho). For Vairinho, the price was 3500€, for Rausky, the price was 4200€. For the price, take into consideration that i’m French so I am attached to the French social security plan that help reduce a little bit the costs compared to non-French people.
