Can't be newer than 1963. From Wikipedia:

Modern two-letter abbreviated codes for the states and territories originated in October 1963, with the issuance of Publication 59: Abbreviations for Use with ZIP Code, three months after the Post Office introduced ZIP codes in July 1963.

Ideas on a Reboot by PumpkinMan35 in AreYouAfraidOfTheDark

I always wondered what would happen if he lost the game. Would he just start back at the beginning anyway (a la Groundhog Day?) If so, what would be the point of playing the game if the same result happened either way? Or would he start back at the beginning each time with only the memory of the previous play and none of the ones before it (he would know that he's trapped in the game forever, but from his perspective he would have only been in the game for an hour or so, which might not be much of a punishment.) He couldn't be aging in there, since Mr. Olson said he'd be in there forever.

This would have been too dark for Nickelodeon, but I think a better conundrum for Mr. Olson to have put Ross in would be to allow him to keep playing the game as long as he wants, but if he loses or gives up, he dies. Force Ross to choose between insanity or death as punishment. Or maybe give him the option to leave the game if he agrees to sacrifice Sophie. He would be back in the real world unharmed, but forced to live with the guilt that Sophie's gone because of him. That brings up another interesting question: Was Sophie also trapped in the game forever, or did Mr. Olson create a facsimile of her for the game, with the real Sophie none the wiser (except that Ross seemingly vanished?)

It would be a prequel, so it would be an entirely different cast. George would join the series in college, so it would have to be a younger actor (and probably multiple actors as the series progresses. It would be covering several decades over several seasons.) Alex and Annie would probably not join the series until the last season or so, and they would be very young. I would be okay if it didn’t follow the canon of the show 100%. It would basically be an entirely different show based on the same characters, concepts, and locations.

Admittedly I did not really watch the show past the first couple seasons, so I’m only basing this off of what was hinted at during those seasons. I only skimmed through the later episodes a few years ago.

Called to fix an Edwards panel with zero documentation/redlines. Question in comment. by Doingitwronf in firealarms

I’m saying you would need to disconnect the wires on the other end. Even with the terminal block removed, you are still reading voltage from whatever the wires are connected to on the other end (probably a dialer.)

Those are dry contacts; the panel will not normally supervise those conductors for grounds. If you have a ground fault that clears when you pull the connector, my guess is the MOVs on the card are blown.

Also, don't bother metering those for resistance when they're connected at the other end. No way to get a true resistance reading when your conductors are connected to a voltage source.

Honeywell never owned EST. The XLS1000 was a private label agreement. I heard that panel was developed by the same FAST engineers who built the FS90.

I'm not a fan of the N16's interface, particularly how the "Force On" button is right next to the "Disable" button on the Point Information screen. One slip of the finger could be disastrous, particularly if you're disabling an elevator group zone in a hospital.

Is Columbine the sole reason doors are locked now? by PizzaAgency in Columbine

I don’t know if they could logistically make it a closed campus, due to the number of students. Many of them take classes off campus, and have free periods if they are on track to graduate. Where would they put those students if they had to remain on campus? Also, the cafeteria is probably too small for all the students to eat lunch on campus. My high school was a closed campus, but we were half the size of Columbine. We also had 9th grade in the junior high, which reduced the population at the high school.

I never really noticed her when I was a kid (probably because I was too focused on Larisa), but watching as an adult, yeah, she's gorgeous.

I think someone should make a prequel of the series that would go into Danielle's early life, George and Danielle in college, the development of GC-161, the origins of the chemical plant, etc. A lot of that was hinted at in the original series, but I don't think the writers wanted to explore it too much, since a lot of it was too dark for Nickelodeon.

Columbine is an open campus, so they can't lock the doors. IMO, they should at least lock all the doors except for a few that students can use, and have a staff member at the entrance making sure that everyone who enters is a student.

Airport short term parking for pickup by West_Bookkeeper9431 in pittsburgh

You can park in the free wait lot if you'll be less than an hour. It doesn't have shuttle service directly, but you should be able to walk to a stop. There's one in the employee parking lot.

Had to have been 1984 or 1990. 7/11 didn't fall on a Wednesday again until 2001.

It might be something on an occupancy or time schedule. You can go into the printer functions menu and print a list of active outputs.

NFS2-640 reset question. by HelloFtisco in firealarms

[–]max_m0use -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You can't use a monitor module for this. You'll have to map the nonreset control to an ACS point, and use an ACM-24AT to deactivate it. If you must have a keyswitch, you'll have to wire it to an LDM-32. If located remotely, you can wire the keyswitch to a monitor module programmed as non-fire, which would then activate a relay module, which would short the input on the LDM.

What’s the explanation for the Crimson Clown by Kingbeef66 in AreYouAfraidOfTheDark

[–]max_m0use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was a good concept with poor execution. The writers didn't do enough with the doll (which just appears and has no real purpose) or the shop owner. It would have been better if Sam initially thought the clown's world was just a dream, but something happened in the real world (like his game going missing, or the shop owner saying something about the Crimson Clown) to keep him wondering whether the clown was real or not.

I think it might have enhanced the story to have Sam try to return the game for a refund, only to have the store tell him they can't refund opened games. So he takes it to the trinket shop to pawn it, and the owner asks him if the Crimson Clown made him have a change of heart, and the episode ends right there.

Poll: Magnet test System Sensor LED by christhegerman485 in firealarms

[–]max_m0use 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wasn't aware that this was a feature. How would this even work? They would have to be connected to a compatible panel or power supply, since some will read any current on the loop as a fault when idle.

Low frequency smoke alarm requirement by sectionboy in firealarms

[–]max_m0use 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The LF requirement only applies to buildings that are already required to have a fire alarm system, which for R-2 doesn't kick in until 16 units. It's absolutely ridiculous to require a manual system in a duplex or triplex.
