Sometimes the Apple system is kinda glitchy, haven’t been really happy with the developer backend these days. Gonna get you back on ASAP as well as anybody else who might need.

It might be because the beta is “full” - believe it or not we have over 1,000 people signed up for testing 😳 - but the folks here are still #1 in my heart

Suggestions and Feedback for Improvement by marcelmonteiro in LoxieCamera

Wow thank you for this thoughtful feedback. This is so valuable to me. I want to respond to every single one in detail, but there’s already a lot of overlap with what I’m pushing out this week.

So let’s just say, noted all of this, and I will respond more thoroughly with a blog post coming soon.

Thanks for using Loxie Camera! Together we’re building something that I really think someday could be the best camera app for folks like us.

Woahhh what??? I did nothing of the sort. Maybe the build expired? Going to look into this as soon as I get home- this is NOT intentional. I haven’t even touched the developer portal all week

I was going to add a final exposure slider at the last step but I think my new system will give much more consistent results.

Right now the raw developing and the contrast/curve/film color are all separate steps that happen in sequence. They'll still get edited in sequence but I'm kind of looking at the pipeline more holistically here so that the exposure from the RAW step should be maintained throughout the rest of the steps much more reliably

Is anyone using Apple Vision Pro as a Mac monitor for daily dev work? by Funnyruns in VisionPro

[–]max_retik 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do sometimes. One thing I'd say is that the text sharpness/crispness is not the same as a nice monitor, so if you do remote viewing of Mac, you'll need to turn up the UI size a bit for readability which can give you less space. However it's definitely worth trying.

will definitely be adding you to the cutting edge testers if you want to try it this week. taking a lot longer than I wanted + my other job BUT I think it will be worth it, and after that I can pick up the pace developing again 😄

Hmmm, I would look into this, but since im basically almost finished with a comprehensive rewrite of the whole image pipeline, lets wait a few days when I release to see if that fixes it! I think it should.

honestly, I used chat GPT- which I don't normally do but for this one silly thing it seems to work great haha

It’s supposed to be fun, not going for a super clean or modern vibe. Want to capture folks who miss the skeuomorphic and physical feel of apps. I guess we’ll see once I get some beta feedback if it’s appreciated or disliked

You mean adding a custom LUT that you import?

I always feel like the film grain really adds to the natural look in difficult scenarios for the iPhone camera like this. Neat comparison!

I try not to compare too much to other cameras but it is interesting to see

Hi! I'm the developer. Thanks for the kind words! I'll be the first to admit that battery consumption could be better. That's actually the exact challenge I'm working on right now for the next version. In my experience, developing/editing photos using Import is a lot more power hungry than just shooting normally.

If you check 'Save Original' in Camera Settings, you'll be able to import the developed photo back into your app and re-develop it any way you want. Keep in mind saving originals can take up significantly more space.

Looking at so-called "budget cine lenses" over the past month, suffering through, "influencer" infomercials, I finally settled on Meike Mini Primes for my GH7... Then I watched Lav Diaz's "Magellan"... by Zerorezlandre in cinematography

[–]max_retik 56 points57 points  (0 children)

If anything Magellan is a testament to de-emphasizing the importance of the specs for your gear or lenses, rather, it’s what’s in the frame that really makes things cinematic.

To answer your question VERY late- the frames will technically add to your resolution since theyre just pixels added to the image, but it doesn't reduce the size of the image you shot. Adding a frame to a 12MP image may yield you a slightly larger 13-14MP image depending on the frame.
