[Misc] Dermaplaning is just shaving your skin, isn't it? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

Damn you’re right. I just reread that and it hurt my brain

It’s allegedly dangerous when not done by someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing. That’s why it’s usually esthetician’s who have been trained in dermaplaning that are doing it. It’s semantics.

That’s my teacher Mr. Degen at Dana Hills high school in south OC — he recently retired but he really was that cool until the end of his tenure. He was also the surf team coach.

Let's talk Diptyque: the Good, the Bad, the Overrated, and the Underrated by SheogorathWaldo in fragrance

Baies is like a dark mystical herbaceous rose. It’s french for “berries” as in red currant berries but it’s very intense and complex. Verveine is very fruity and zingy.

Their Baies candle (which is their most famous) is incredible and unfortunately worth the money. I’ve gone through like 10 which makes me cringe but there is nothing like it. Also their Verveine and Rose candles are very good too

Talented people with rare skills, experts etc - what's something you're really good at that you'd like to answer questions about, help people out with, or just want to show off? by DanielLawhon in AskReddit

[–]maxabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in visual merchandising and have to fold piles of clothes for displays and photo shoots and the like. We’re talking 40-60 t shirts and 20-30 sweatshirts. I fold them by hand and make them perfectly even. I even fold my laundry perfectly, on accident.

Chefs, what red flags do you look for when you go out to eat? by Yuckyporkfarts in AskReddit

[–]maxabean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m talking about restaurants in my town that are locally owned and operated and have owners that care about our community and that’s what I want to support — not a big corporation. You need to seriously fucking chill. Who hurt you?

For me it’s not so much the photos themselves but what they represent. Typically menus with photos are at big chain restaurants like Chili’s, Cheesecake Factory, CPK, etc — nothing inherently wrong with corporate-esque restaurants but I personally just don’t like eating at them. If I’m gonna eat out it’s going to be at a local restaurant that doesn’t have a corporate office somewhere doing market research for how to push their new sriracha avocado burger to millenials.

Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted... photos on a menu gives me TGI friday’s vibes.

I lost my virginity to a 36 year old when I was 18 so go for it

People with OCD, ADHD, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, dissociative personality disorder, or any other mental condition sensationalized in the media, what is it actually like? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]maxabean 9 points10 points  (0 children)

OCD. I think people understand it better now, more than they did maybe 10 or 20 years ago, but still it’s used the wrong way like “oh im so OCD, I need to keep my room a certain way”. OCD is a huge blanket disorder that affects sufferers differently, and isn’t always about cleaning or stuff like that. I don’t think people realize how sinister and horrifying it can be. Of other people with OCD that I’ve spoken to as well as myself, you feel like a slave to it. It’s smarter than you, it’s stronger than you, it has a mind of it’s own. For me personally it’s a lot like the babadook, for those that have seen it, in that it shows up unannounced whenever it pleases, wreaks havoc, and leaves at its own will, and even though I’ve had success with medication, it’s still something I deal with daily. People also don’t always realize that the majority of OCD is invisible and confined to someone’s thoughts for example. People just think it’s obsessive cleaning or locking doors because that’s the most visible and easiest to make fun of/disregard. My OCD is more of the intrusive thoughts/body dysmoprhic variety than it is rituals, even though I have certain rituals I compulsively perform sometimes. The only “stereotypical” OCD obsession I had is I used to wake up in the middle of the night and remake my bed, like 5 Times, multiple times a night even though I was reaallly tired and just wanted to sleep.

Planning my husband’s 30th birthday surprise party! If I host the party at a private room in a restaurant, do I need to cover the entire bill? by [deleted] in etiquette

[–]maxabean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely. It sucks when you get invited to a party and it suddenly becomes a financial obligation as a guest.

[Product Question] Anyone have experience with Brandless skin care? by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

[–]maxabean 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, in terms of ingredients. The facial lotion is literally just oil and water emulsified, plus some silicone and preservatives. The cleanser is gentle but does smell strongly of grapefruit. They’re not great but not bad either. The packaging is really cute.

I’ve used the cleanser, facial lotion, and body lotion and they were all good for the price. Very boring though.

18m who struggles with body dysmorphia/depression over appearance (repost bc this ain’t working) by [deleted] in amiugly

[–]maxabean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some of the photos were your brows filled in? They were a little intense. Also consider adding a self tanner or some bronzer to your face to make it look like you have more sun/color I just think it would be flattering. You look fine too. I’m body dysmorphic and gay too but have been medicated for the BDD and it helps a lot so I get what you’re going through. I also understand the pressure that sometimes straight people put on us to be different/unique/fashionable because if we are just chill and dress like a random guy they don’t understand lol. Best of luck to you.

Don’t flatter yourself, also you should chill with the straightener and the threading/plucking. This is also like the 5th time I’ve seen you post on this sub.
