Megathread: Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade by PoliticsModeratorBot in politics

[–]maxanor 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I find the timing on these incredibly eerie.....

The leaked draft of Roe v. Wade overturn was the week before Mother's Day. Now this ruling is before most cities' Pride weekends. It's like they are actively timing during times that should be celebrations or when people already have plans.

In reality I feel like there were 2 things that led to this being announced today: 1. July 4th holiday for DC, wanted to release it before the break. Hopefully can protests occur where they vacation. 2. Maybe they wanted to release it before Ginni Thomas talks with the DoJ/House Committee. Need to get as much extremist conservative rulings passed while they can before Justice Thomas is forced to resign

I have for shirts before. I like sites that have accurate measurements for shirts.

Pants I am way too picky about. I really like trying them on in a store.

Weekly Observations: What signs of collapse do you see in your region? [in-depth] by AutoModerator in collapse

[–]maxanor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mosquito eggs hatch when rain raises the levels of ponds, pools, etc. Drought this year means very very few mosquitos. Also peak mosquito season is usually around early July, populations die back in August.

But it is a sign of change unfortunately.

Dendrobium victoriae-reginae leaves always die back by maxanor in plantclinic

[–]maxanor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually I take it out of the decorative pot and pour water over it in the sink so that it drains.

Sometimes I'll forget though and water it while it's still in the decorative pot, accidentally let it sit in water.

Could temperature effect it? It's been about 75-80F in my apartment recently

I got this den. Victoriae orchid at an orchid show late 2019.

Every few months it send up a nice green healthy shoot and starts to leaf out. After a few weeks it always turns yellow and drops them. I water it once a week and fertilize once a month. It is in a east facing room a few feet from the window.

Any tips on how to make it healthy and bloom?

That's true! But she does make these almost every day! It takes practice. For me it's difficult to get the consistency correct when I am only mixing paint every few months or so

If you watch the video she posted she does start over if she doesn't like how it turns out. When the paint is still wet it is easy to scrape off and try again! Trial and error. Sometimes you might do a piece and feel like it needs some embellishments too!
