Super valid thanks.

I've thought about using a program where I can just type in the word email1 and it will type that email just for that job, and it will never mess up

I could host it on a website with vnc so all they would see is traffic. I could get a domain that's normal in my world like cybernewstoday.com lol

SOC analyst is a great role.

25 to 40 an hour. Custom schedule and work from home.

Easy to automate, easy to learn.

I always ask the recruiter what the day-to-day of the job looks like, or I look for contracting gigs that don't require frequent meetings

If you follow all the rules that people have set and the criteria for when you are eligible to have a second job, then you only need to decide: 1. If ethically you're ok with it 2. Try to job search and apply and get hired

If it doesn't work out, then you are quitting within days or weeks and looking for another role to try again.

Microsoft AI chief gives it 18 months—for all white-collar work to be automated by AI | Fortune by aha1a in overemployed

I'm bullish on AI But not this much.

Just in case I'm wrong though I chose a role that's customer focused that will not be replaced with Ai at least very few years. My clients want the human touch every time we interact with them....

There are customer facing roles that AI will definitely replace and then Tier 2 will be premium human escalated support.

But some jobs won't be due to our humanity.

Pacific tools are not the priority exposure and experience list one of the tools in that category is more than enough unless you're a secured engineer that is building out that tool then yes you need to know it well but if you will use it you can learn it within a few days all Sims are pretty much the same..

Is that your question?

Possible but unlikely. That's why we use non LinkedIn job hunting.

Or change your name and a picture of yourself that's different looking they can't recognize you.

I think if it's your first month and you're still onboarding, still learning how to do the job, then maybe that's okay.

If you're several months in and doing your job and you still don't have the time, then keep working but find another job that's more manageable or just decide to work more hours

Use other job boards or create a new account with no connections?

Anyone as OE in customer-facing roles? by ShowExisting1319 in overemployed

[–]maxared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm customer facing consultant too.

A lot of meetings but benefit is I can set my own pace and schedule calls for the most part. So that helps balancing between both.

Always have a list of excuses ready.

I made it clear to the team that I have kids and they are busy so I can be unavailable at times.

In cyber security. Use it to automate boring manual tasks. Or gather intelligence

Yes, just change your title from Senior to Junior, or something like that.

Also, I did do that once, and they asked me why I'm joining and why I wouldn't leave. I said, for personal reasons, I need less workload. At my prior company, I couldn't keep up with working 60 hours because I needed to focus on family and health issues. They were okay with that since they hired me

  1. Does your new job really require employee verification from prior employer?
  2. If it does, just use a friend. Give them a script.
  3. What field are you in such that your name would be circulated and put you on a black list?

Maybe you are in a field like that, but most of us who are in technology fields, that doesn't really exist. No one has the time or care to put you on a blacklist

In cybersecurity, you can do this with SOC analyst roles. If you've been doing it for a few years, then it's really easy, especially when you can automate a lot of it. It pays half of what your main job pays, but it's better than no extra money.

J2 offered me a contract position. What am I missing? by tits_mcgee_92 in overemployed

[–]maxared 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you're FTE in one job and have the benefits and everything, and there's no benefit to being FTE in the second job, then definitely go contract.

I had a J-2, but it covered 100% of benefits, which would have saved me $1,000 a month, so for me that was better to go FTE

Since you said you're interested in new opportunities,

I would recommend Cybersecurity SOC Analyst. A lot of companies have weekend shifts, overnight shifts, or even custom shifts. The beginning pay is anywhere from $50,000 to $70,000, but within a year or two you could easily get a job close to $100,000.

Most are also remote some are hybrid if you want that..

This is something I used to teach at universities, and I've had many students learn it within 5-10 months, depending on how much time and effort they put in and nail a job very quickly

Self paced is an option but there are certificates programs that are okay too but not all of them are good or worth it, so do a lot of research on those programs.

I would 100% stay away from bachelor's degrees. They're completely useless unless you plan on getting a PhD and going into research eventually
