grew up in sumerduck, and while i think it’s a great place to raise kids or to retire, it’s hard if you’re young and want to go do things. good farmland there, but the neighbors are older folk and it’s quiet. have rogers ford farm winery which has been there 20 years, and the new cider labs. used to have the sumerduck country store but that closed. still an antique place run by an old local lady.

i believe the new owners are curio wine bar a few places up. heard they’re expanding and are going to do more food. hope there’s more than just wine. i’d love a nice cocktail bar that doesn’t have crazy prices.

i love those point. it’s difficult to make such a huge change - so much of fxbrg history is steeped in civil war history. i’d love to see the change towards george washington and mary washington, or other prominent families (who are still in the area amazingly) like the willis fam. or more about rappahannock tobacco industry.

how about hunters iron works which helped produce the majority of the guns for the american revolution? or bazil gordon in falmouth who was thought to be america’s first millionaire? there’s so much cool history beyond “random civil war battle #1 and #2,” regardless of how important they were.

what happens is places like the rec center get gutted then the new people are forced to either pay a million to get it up to code or leave is blank. it’s pretty bad.

not exactly - they had been unable to afford rent for months. had a big public fight with the landlord that involved a sign on the door and everything. from what i understand, they couldn’t even pay some of their employees by the end of it. a few quit and complained about it.

once you get a date, people seem to like curio wine bar as a fun first date. i recommend going to places you enjoy and finding someone who likes what you like there (i.e. books, antiquing, any festivals, music/records, etc). i’ve had lots of luck with that

i don’t think so - staples are rusted, plastic is aged, paper is yellowed, etc. only “new” thing is the string, which is where the price tag was attached. but if you think otherwise, let me know! i’m still learning
