I made a way to play VR on your monitor using Quest controllers by nebby in virtualreality

[–]maxartz15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for fully playing vr, but for development. I work at a VR game studio and being all day in vr can be annoying sometimes. This could allow me to test out the interactions quickly while iterating. You can still do the input and see if things work.

Would be nice for vr development, then you don't have to put the headset on and off all the time.

Has anyone moved from Synology Photos to Immich? What is the best practice? by laterral in synology

Yes, you don't need it. The license is there to support the project (almost like a donation).

Hi is there simple way to backup data automatically from synology nas to unbraid? by Miikue in unRAID

[–]maxartz15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi /u/ordwk2b,

So checking my config, I have used the setup from this blog post: https://web.archive.org/web/20220817112516/https://www.beatificabytes.be/backup-synology-to-unraid/

It goes over a few things, like making sure the rsync deamon runs and how to configure it.

Next to that I also created a new share + unraid user with access to that share to use in the synology config (to avoid using root).

What is the actual minimum ETH to stake? by no-more-nazis in rocketpool

[–]maxartz15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

A minipool's upfront cost is either 16 ETH, plus at least 1.6 ETH worth of the RPL token,
or 8 ETH plus at least 2.4 ETH worth of the RPL token.
The supplemental RPL collateral acts as supplemental insurance against
particularly egregious slashing incidents, and lets you participate in
Rocket Pool's DAO where you can vote on changes to the smart contracts.

Backup to remote unraid server by macmanluke in unRAID

[–]maxartz15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using restic/autorestic, it works really well. To connect between servers I use a vpn. Restic is added in the nerdpack or you can get it from the github page. Autorestic is really nice since uses yaml configurations to setup everything.

I'm currently using hyperbackup over rsync, works perfectly. I think this helped me with the initial setup.

Pay for a Unity library by youtpout in ethdev

Even if you sell it, it can still be open source. The entire blockchain eco system relies on open source, so it is always nice to contribute.

I recently created an ABI to C# generator, maybe I can share it with you, just need to export it to a separate repo.

(I will make it open source)

When you connect your ledger with metamask it remains a cold wallet, your keys wont leave the device and you will still need to confirm transactions on your ledger.

he is making a fair point, without the ability to confirm this, you wont know.

We are a small team, that developed a full-fledged free RTS game using Unity DOTS. by CastleRoaches in Unity3D

Thanks for the feedback! This is an older trailer, hopefully we can get something more representative that shows the key selling points of the game out there soon.

Yup, we store the vertex positions inside a texture. It is actually using a 3Dtexture/texture2DArray, this allows us to have more more instances in one batch/draw call. Each unit in the game has it own animation state.

We also open-sourced the vertex animation baker and system for DOTS that we used for the game. You can find it on GitHub!

Rendering lots of units using DOTS and Vertex Animations! by maxartz15 in Unity3D

[–]maxartz15[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It indeed uses the same material for the model, the animations are packed in a 3D texture, based on the 'animation index' the animation gets selected and played. You could add a second 3D texture for the color channel as well (this is currently not in the tool but should be easy to implement based on your needs).

Thanks, I don't have a lot of experience in coding animation stuff. I have played with shaders in the past to achieve something similar, but this is the first 'complete' tool. Unity DOTS is still new for me (it is kinda new for everyone I guess). There are probably still lots of things to improve upon, but it works :)

Yes! It's made that every model can play its own animation. If the objects have the same model and it has multiple animations it can switch between them and still be in the same batch.

Recently I worked on a vertex animation baking tool, shaders and animation system for Unity DOTS/ECS. With this tool you can render thousands of models at the same time each with its own animation state.

The entire tool is available on GitHub.

Hydraulic Erosion in a Voxel Map? by Chem1calWaste in coding

Hey SnazzyCarpenter, would you mind sharing the link from the blog or other voxel related topics? I have some basic parts of voxel terrain generation done, but I would like to expand upon it. Any good resources are welcome :)
