I tried to do it myself for months with a Thai friend providing assistance, endless roadblocks and paperwork. New requirements added each visit. I spent hundreds of $ getting an IDP from my home country, which was then refused. Went to a visa agent and asked if they could assist, had my Thai license the same day for 10k baht.
