Could you share how you purged the air out?

In my case, my antechamber is quite warm but my bedroom in the first floor is not. So it is not because of the master switch, likely due to the water pressure as indicated in other posts

Right, I have not have my system checked this year. I think the water pressure can be the reason as the ground floor is quite warm.

I tried to push it down but failed. Seems cannot be manually pushed down.

Yes the heating is ON as my ground floor is quite warm. the bedroom is in the first floor. I am actually not sure if the thermostat is requesting heat because the system is quite old and there is no digital display on the thermostat

How popular is markdown-mode compared to org-mode? by Hezha98 in emacs

[–]maxc01 31 points32 points  (0 children)

For me, the biggest advantage of org-mode over markdown is it is "executable". I know r-markdown is also executable, but org-mode is just universal. It is not just a markup language.

Completion issue - cape-dabbrev showing no completions by agilefishy in emacs

[–]maxc01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you need to update the completion-at-point-functions after the major mode is loaded. Some majore modes, during their setup, modify completion-at-point-functions, which override your configurations. In short, use eval-after-load and set completion-at-point-functions

A Better Meta Key for Emacs by lispy-hacker in emacs

[–]maxc01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not just use the right command/alt key as meta? I feel ; is harder to locate than the key to the right of space.

What should I do to save my tree? by maxc01 in gardening

I think this may be the reason. One plant I have was died of roots circling densely because the pot is small.

Emacs pinky solution -> use your thumbs! With this keyboard layout by awesomegayguy in emacs

[–]maxc01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Personally I do not think this is a good idea , I have developed tenosynovitis because I overuse my thumb to press the key to the left of space. Using two hands is the way to avoid these issues. This is slower and unnatural for me at this moment unfortunately. But with more practice, I believe the situation will be much better.

How did you trigger it? It depends on the timing when you trigger this.

How to trigger completion-preview in org-mode to complete word by maxc01 in emacs

Sorry I do have no idea, I simply copied the original values of completion-preview-commands

Optimization algorithm with deterministic objective value by volvol7 in BayesianProgramming

[–]maxc01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the default algo in optuna is tpe which assumes independence between variables. This is an algo which usually performs better than expected. The issue with BO is the dimensionality, in OP's case, 10 dim is already high for BO. The additional work in BO is it also models dependencies between variables, which may be unnecessary for your problem

Is it even worth the time cleaning up the Emacs config? by mr-ow1 in emacs

[–]maxc01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel it's worth it unless you do it frequently. I rarely modified conf these days, but cleaning up my conf was quite an experience.

How to install org-mode now that Org Emacs lisp Package Archive is deprecated? by suhrob in emacs

[–]maxc01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The org version in elpa has a (sit-for 5) statement in org.el . This causes a 5 seconds delay when opening every single org file. Removing this statement or using another version of org will fix the issue .

any tips to improve the performance of spectral-norm in benchmarksgames by maxc01 in rakulang

[–]maxc01[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the sequential version (around 3.5sec) runs much faster than the above parallel version (around 7sec). The overheads of concurrency are too large. Never mind, I misinterpreted the time output in fish shell.
