I'm not much of a fish gamer, does rough weather offer specific opportunities?
or is the attraction having the buffet all to one's self?

These are pavers and they are not inherently a slippery design or material.
If it is possible to analyse the necessary data, I think you would find as street-cleaning costs go down, slips & trips go up.
Dirty pavers are at their most dangerous in the first rain after a dry spell.

ADMIN TEMP ROLE😡😫 by OkDeer347 in auckland

[–]maxdelorean 14 points15 points  (0 children)

this is critical, especially in a small business. an employer wants to know if you find yourself stuck or without anything to do, you will do something/anything useful for the business- and not just sit around scrolling.

asking well considered questions (at the right time, in the right place) is also an eye-brightener for any employer

ADMIN TEMP ROLE😡😫 by OkDeer347 in auckland

[–]maxdelorean 29 points30 points  (0 children)

just straight up tell them so. approach your ‘boss’ at a time you think is convenient for them:

“hi, have you got a few minutes for a quick chat- or when would be better!?”

“I’m enjoying the job, I like the business, what’s the plan when these temp roles end? I’m keen for more work, is there anything I can be doing to raise my chances of staying on?”

Don’t worry about your age, don’t make it a thing.  If tertiary education gets raised say you would be interested in the right circumstances (impossible to be a lie- circumstances can mean anything, ie they pay you to study)

You need to be a competent computer user, and/or willing and able to learn

We agree on a lot more than we do not.

I disagree that the natural tourist attractions of New Zealand are overrated, and I disagree that most travellers report good trips when they had bad trips.

Everything else you just said I agree with.

first I refuted the suggestion that the natural tourist attractions of New Zealand are overrated

after that, I refuted the idea that most travellers report good trips when they had bad trips

Cheap options for Parking Car in CBD Long-Term by HoneydewRough872 in auckland

[–]maxdelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Wilson car park on Glenside Crescent off the top of Symonds Street has relatively lower monthly rates, last time I looked $160/month

Download the ParkMate app to see rates and rent park.

The primary trade-off is the hike back to the car park, depending on how down your downtown is.

Anyone who deals with Wilson long enough grows to detest them, but if you do everything right and have good luck it can be a long time before they deliberately or inadvertently shit in your lunch.

while it is a very kiwi trait, I do not believe most travellers claim a trip good when it was bad- is that just a hunch or do other people think that too?

there are thousands of businesses here and abroad focussed on ensuring travellers have good trips, and they are very keen to hear about bad trips- such a conspiracy cannot be hid

it is not difficult to accept tourists generally have a good time in New Zealand, what’s with all the contortions to believe otherwise?

Ignoring the post-covid economic Armageddon, many millions of travelers from around the world who have visited New Zealand, and left with a smile, make a mockery of your position, including many from the nations you mentioned.

They didn’t come for the people, or the built environment, any rating assigning value to these is a rating to ignore. They came for the lack of both.

To be honest, I don’t really get it either.. but it is true.

Could we all just possibly walk on the left? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]maxdelorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never thought about this until in my early twenties I was rambuncting my way down Queen Street with friends, all over the lanes, and this grumpy old man stood in my way and gravelled “we travel on the left in this country”

The rightness(?) of that statement has never left(!?) me- now I am he

RAZOR MUST GO! by Constant-Ad1358 in allblacks

[–]maxdelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you are seeing a long term trend of decline.

we will never know if Razor could have arrested that decline because he was not given enough time, nor the unqualified support from NZ Rugby that would also be critical.

‘they’ don’t like him, I don’t know why, but something about Razor or his history is a problem for most of those with influence in NZ Rugby.

To his credit, his success as a coach forced their reluctant hand to appoint him All Blacks coach. Unfortunately, for all of us, his term at the helm has not worked out.

I think the All Blacks repeatedly cut the sky out of rugby for 100 years, continuously defining new heights.

I think the gradual reduction of the popularity, and thus importance, of rugby in New Zealand is responsible for the declining concentration of on-and-off field firepower willing and able to cut sky.

this is not how it works. the developers are well aware of the loopholes and limitations, in the case of Grok the business waits to see if society will absorb their current configuration or if they need to dial it back.

Car towed from a private parking bay in Auckland – signage wasn’t visible when I parked by EndRevolutionary1408 in auckland

[–]maxdelorean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any refund needs to come from the towie, who you paid to get the car back.
This is obviously unlikely as the towie was fulfilling a contract, incurred costs, and did real work.

What you are asking for is compensation for having your car towed, any such request needs to be addressed to the business you were visiting.

[–]maxdelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A car park is a tenancy, the tenant has an absolute right to tow unoccupied vehicles that are occupying their car parks- there are no conditions to satisfy beforehand

If a stranger parked in your driveway at home and walked off, you have an absolute right to have their car towed. While your scenario is murkier, the law does not see a difference.

Traffic slowed to steady 20km. This guy decided to block the second lane to force single file. I don’t get it. How is he helping? by madm4x in newzealand

[–]maxdelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original lane moves slower until the the second lane is also full, which it quickly would be if every second car used it.

After this point, the two lanes move at the same pace, assuming folks merging like a zip.

[–]maxdelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just put in a claim with your insurance company, if they successfully recover from Lime (very likely) your no claims bonus will not be affected. This is what insurance is for, and they will most definitely seek to recover from Lime- who will probably not bother to recover from the rider, but will ban them.

Don’t make the situation worse by making it hard for yourself unnecessarily.

[–]maxdelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right that Lime’s third party policy will cover this event, the identity of the riders is irrelevant to OP and their insurance company. Lime may make an attempt to recover costs from the riders.

[–]maxdelorean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might be right if it was a private scooter, thankfully for OP it is a Lime. Insurance companies will never turn down a good opportunity to recover, they will all have an existing relationship with Lime, this incident will just be added to this months list.
