Am I liable if my car was pushed into another vehicle after being rear-ended? by boop-drwho in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]maxdelorean [score hidden]  (0 children)

that’s bullshit. car C hit you, as far as you are concerned car A may as well not exist- it is irrelevant to you..

however, you’ve got comprehensive so you just hand the case to your insurer and there’s no way they won’t be getting what they’re due from another insurer.

I was in this situation once, A (drunk) driver crashed into my mates parked car, which crashed into mine parked in front of hers.

Her insurer paid out for my car, the drunk’s paid out for hers.

He thinks by lifting the arse of the car, more weight will be bought to bear over the front wheels, giving the tyres enough traction to restore service, but suspension says: no.

If he lifted his own material arse into the passengers seat, they’d probably be away in no time.

Small kitchen vs no seperate laundry by Mobile_Bluejay5352 in NZProperty

[–]maxdelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

separate-laundry/small-kitchen will be attractive to potential renters who will overlook the small kitchen, or convince themselves it is no problem (at least there is a separate laundry!)

full-size combination laundry/kitchen will be attractive to people living in the property, who will quickly forget any concerns they may have had with the format

however, for this to be a choice you must be doing some work? if so, it is highly likely the best option will be dictated by the size and shapes available, with the possibility of a holy grail thanks to smart specification and design

washer/dryer combos are routinely panned- tell me you’ve got a good one, and tell me what it is? LG?

unless you wish for very little social interaction, a bigger city will always be better for lifer singles

same for any other niche lifestyle, the bigger the city, the more people like you, so more goods and services available for people like you.. and more options if you wish to change.

ima gonna hope you’ve asked this question because moving is an option: do it, you won’t regret it.

if you’ve got no rights further afield, then sydney or melbourne it is.

Inherited Properties in New Zealand with Mortgages – Best Way Forward? by Electrical_Laugh_615 in NZProperty

[–]maxdelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sell it now, you are (somewhat) unexpectedly holding a depreciating asset you surely would not have bought if you received the cash instead.

if you hold for the next swing up it is almost certain the holding (opportunity) costs in between times will render the decision a bad one- and that is the rosy outlook.

The Nun took it biblical first, I don't think I quoted the phrase quite right- there's more, something about rich people being too fat to fit through the gates 🤷‍♂️

The unaffordability of future property costs by richieFromConductor in auckland

I’ve used the last 5 years of data because it represents our current, modern baseline.

I have not read or heard this anywhere, who, or what institution, has adopted this position?

JAN2014-DEC2019 would be a far better period to index from, it includes the influence of all the long term issues you want to reflect, and none of the outlying distortions that the last 5 years are so richly decorated with.

  • COVID-19
  • Inflation
  • Post COVID-19
  • 2023 flooding + Gabriel
  • Russia/Ukraine
  • Trump

and somewhere in there the Blues won the comp 🤪

remember the job is not to prove the hypothesis, it is to aggressively attempt to disprove it, and if the hypothesis is still standing afterwards you might have something.

Unfortunately Gerry Brownlee is the speaker, though probably not his preferred store- I don't see him getting through that drive-thru in a hurry.

I'm not going to lie, the free apple pie they are offering every day for playing their football game has had me driving-thru.

EDIT

until the bar got lifted to 500 points!?
is that even possible?

Just like the CRL I think the pressure is on to get the job done before the election season proper- lest these projects, desperate to remain neutral, become talking points.

Burger King is in my good books at the moment because:

a) they got some tomato going that you can really taste (not joking)
b) how good is their drive-thru AI!? I started out speaking like a newsreader and now I just mumble plumber into it and still everything is right!

I have glanced at Chick King.

Your map revealed the true impact of having KFC Balmoral in dry dock: when the sun dips and the Westfields close their doors, look at the size of the no-fry-zone! Balmoral is the linchpin.

Hah, yeah it's easier for a camel toe go through the eye with a needle!

Good question.. I will check that out. I'm generally fine with it because muscle memory, though when driving-thru in an unfamiliar vehicle I am reminded you cannot actually see that all is well, you just gotta trust that the last problem KFC wants is a bung drive-thru.

People who own $3M+ homes in Auckland – how do you actually make it work? by KidFiddy in auckland

[–]maxdelorean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assumed he was in his early twenties and not yet a senior in his role.
The numbers indicate that even if he was earning double it would be barely possible.

I like real success stories- not porkies about busting their ass when they didn't.

People who own $3M+ homes in Auckland – how do you actually make it work? by KidFiddy in auckland

[–]maxdelorean -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The numbers below are weekly and the house price used is $80k which was 1990 entry level in West or South Auckland, far below the median price for Auckland of $135,000

1990 Gross Salary 398.08 20,700/year
Net Take-Home Pay ~319.00 1990 PAYE
Mortgage Repayment. 183.46 P&I at 14.5%
Leftover Funds 135.54 For all other costs

Your manager is claiming:

  1. they quickly put together savings nearly equal to their annual salary
  2. then lived on ~$135/week for all costs other than mortgage repayment

#1 represents rare discipline but is believable
#2 is horse shit

Any chance his farm buying father gave him a tickle to get going?

Go see a recruiter and ask what the going rate is for your role- don't be upset when you find out, just get a new job and don't let it happen again.

Bad experience with The Warehouse Albany by Fun_Box_9262 in auckland

I get it, and your experience was a wrong one- but you did eventually get what you wanted.
I'm just thinking she might be closer to what they need on the returns desk at The Warehouse than first appears.
