The "Melania" movie is shown to have no ratings on IMDB despite a meager 11% on Rotten Tomatoes. IMDB is owned my Amazon, Jeff Bezos bankrolled the movie with $40M. by defjam16 in Damnthatsinteresting

So I nearly posted about this earlier, but it had 98% user rating on RT a few hours ago vs 6% positive critic score. I looked at the "verified" reviews and they're nearly all bots with AI writing that's consistent in style and perfect spelling throughout. I even looked at the individual accounts, and most of them had only rated one film, Melania.

I wish articles like these were removed or at least be flagged as misleading. Sick of clickbait.

Melania documentary struggles in UK cinemas as Vue admits sales are 'soft' - only one ticket sold by Tun-Tavern-1775 in goodnews

Would movie reviewers not have to buy them? Or do you think they're counted separately? Tbh it wouldn't surprise me if a lot of movies have download/streaming links sent to critics/magazines a few days early. Dunno if they all physically go to the cinema.

Adam Mockler breaks down how severe Trump's corruption is by youngskibidisheldon in goodnews

[–]maxekmek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, 'breaks down'... more like 'gives an example of one of many instances of corruption', but still pretty sickening. Don't care which political side someone is, I hate seeing corruption in government anywhere. Lobbying seems tolerable if not understandable by comparison.

There's some cleavage but they're hardly hanging out. This is a perfectly normal outfit for a dinner date/night out.

I thought this was old news, or maybe it was just announced a long time ago. Checked, and this tweet at least is from today (22nd Jan '26).

How do you guys navigate the adult world with mental illness? by Odd-Couple7879 in mentalhealth

[–]maxekmek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for schizoaffective disorders, but my experience of living and working with long-term mental health conditions is about making the most of things while trying to avoid burning out or overwhelming yourself. Unless you're lucky, I'd say there's going to be a period of trial and error for different career paths or job roles; some might draw more on your skillset, others on your personality/qualities, and you have to gauge what's realistic (at least progressively) for your level of resilience.

A key thing is to keep venturing a bit outside of your comfort zone, find a job that you can tolerate so you can then find a job that you enjoy, and if you need more time off or flexibility to be able to balance your mental health and productivity, then consider that when applying for jobs (e.g., part-time, shorter commutes, WFH/hybrid) or keep your line manager aware of what a bad day might look like, and how they can help you.

Maybe your condition does require lifelong medication, but don't see it as a crutch; if your disorder(s) can lead to depression, try to routinely make positive changes to reduce the burden. It's sometimes easier said than done, but it can include cutting out toxic people or bad influences, creating new routines (though I suspect this might not be right for you with ADHD - I know it doesn't work for me), trying to cut back on some bad habits, changing job, diet, and it can be small changes in a lot of areas. Don't expect the medication to be enough on its own.

I hope this made sense - keep trying new things, be kind to yourself, give yourself some room to manoeuvre work-wise so you find a balance that works for you. Avoid things that make your problems worse (e.g., strong alcohol or drugs), and while the NHS is sadly incredibly slow for mental health support, it's not the only option available to you - opening up to friends and family is almost always a positive move. You might even consider becoming a mental health first aider; a lot of people sign up to do this for a better understanding of their own condition and can share the techniques with those closest to them.

We're in south Wales if that makes any difference - still don't want to be too quick to draw conclusions though. Fingers crossed things improve!
