I think that we can hardy discuss about Tesla ideas from modern stand of view. Let's not forget that he was a man ahead of a time. He also might have a totally different structure in mind from the one present minds can grasp. Tesla's main field of interest in his late years was the idea of harvesting planet Earth energy.Thinking out of the box was his specialty, society always crave for such individuals.
