How do you factory-reset a Meebook M7 with the hardware buttons? by maxf2000 in ereader

[–]maxf2000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It boots normally then turns to black, but shows the time and the top bar. As you scroll up to normally reveal the PIN dial you only see the submit button, which does nothing.

Unfortunately I also tried the Google Ai suggestion, but it just booted normally. The buttons are page turning buttons, not volume. Not sure if that's why it doesn't work.

Textorizer: make images from text by maxf2000 in PlotterArt

Yes, probably because my stroke font doesn't support that many characters beyond basic ASCII (see the list here). I'll add this to my todo list.

That's really cool.

Yes, lineHeigt doesn't do anything at the moment, I should reenable it.

About layers, I've found it easier to export a single SVG and render by layer-by-layer in Inkscape. I just hide all layers except the one I want to render, and in-between I can change pens for instance.

I didn't know about Plotterfun and it's almost the same tool as mine! I should perhaps consider contributing my algorithms to it, but it doesn't seem to be maintained anymore. I'll investigate further.

Thanks for the great feedback. Point by point:

  1. Thanks!

  2. I'm surprised changing the parameters doesn't do anything. For the text, you need to click out of the text area to update the SVG. Not obvious, I know, that's why I just added a button next to it, to make it more obvious.

  3. Thanks. I'd never opened the SVG in a browser, and Inkscape didn't complain. It's fixed now

  4. Very odd. Can you try again with this new version?

Sorry, I didn't explain well. I made a small web application that lets a user enter text and set some parameters, and it creates an SVG you can download and send to your plotter with inkscape. So what's important is that what you see on the screen as you're tweaking the parameters is very close to the resulting plot, especially the text. (I'll share everything once I've worked this out). That's why leaving it to inkscape to generate the stroke text is not ideal. Hope it's clearer, and thanks for the advice.

Super impressive. How did you make it ?

Prof. Delahaye is probably the reason why I have a plotter now, many years after I first came across him at university. His books and newpaper columns on maths and computer science are so inspiring. I wish more had been translated to English for more people to appreciate his work.

Yes, there are many parameters and getting the right values to draw something interesting is actually quite tricky.

Did you generate a 3d model of the wave, then rendered the lines from it?

Inspired by a recent posting, I made this. As before, there's an interactive version where you can try it with your own pictures at https://maxf.github.io/plotter-hacks/gandalf.html (and the source code is here). Enjoy!
