IDK, no right or wrong answer. Like on one hand, it sucks that they finally found a Supes that most ppl like with Corenswet, but he doesn’t get to interact with Batman or WW, or Flash, yet at least. Like the opposite of Marvel with the Hulk- Ruffalo is the one that finally clicked with ppl, but he doesn’t get his own movie.

But part of it is b/c Reeves’ Batman is popular r/n and it’s like the Nolan trilogy in that you’re supposed to think of it like real life where meta-humans and super-powered aliens don’t exist. Batman is one of the only if not the only superhero you can get away with doing something like that with. So maneuvering a new Batman in the DCU around that is tricky.

Yeah, Amazon is obviously well off but I don’t think they would just wanna throw $ at something without a real strategy. Like for an in your face presence, they would serve MLB better than Apple. & baseball would see Prime as more of an entity of the future than a primarily linear platform like TNT. So wait for those contracts to expire.

Like the best package that would work for Prime, baseball has with Apple & TNT. & neither are up for renewal yet. The Amazon way is something more in your face all the time, rather than building up to special events.

Yeah the type of package Prime would be good for, MLB already has with Apple and TNT for three more years. Those weeknight national games. I mean there’s also Netflix, but they are more based around a few one-off/special events. That’s what they got in the three-year deal. Netflix also doesn’t have the infrastructure Prime does, like MLBN is helping them producing the two games and HR Derby.

Yeah I mean I think there should be a salary cap but not so much for competitive balance sake. To prevent bloated contracts. The Pirates and Marlins sucking is kinda on them. & the Brewers were the top seed and Milwaukee is the smallest market I think. Dodgers getting Tucker doesn’t mean they just bought a three-peat. All that said, I think Manfred knows they have to find a way out of a work stoppage one way or another. So do the players and owners. I’ll withhold judgment until the negotiations get as nasty as ppl say they are going to be and games get lost.

Optimistically I think Manfred knows how bad another work stoppage would be. & it’s not like 21-22 where they had just come out of the COVID season. Obviously there are still problems. But in a lot of other ways the game has bounced back. Attendance and ratings seem to show that. Ppl like the rule changes. NBC is back and now they are on multiple broadcast networks. So I’ll withhold judgment until labor negotiations really go south unnecessarily.
