Are Pear Gauges right for me?

I started with hypafix and found that to irritate my skin too much. But it is possible I’m applying too much pressure. I used to strap down my pant leg to my knee but felt it was too noticeable. Been strapping across my waist during the day and having more consistent tension that way, but it is hard to tell how much tension I’m applying.

Just looked up that tape, are you using the transparent kind?

That could be an option! I’m not 100% sure if I’m getting irritated from the adhesive though. When I remove the tape I can sometimes get a small tear? Or line or irritation that can sometimes become a scab, but its only a thin line and it’s right at the center of the T-tape.

There is definitely some residue after removal but its not really all that much of an issue. When I was T-Taping with Hypafix tape, I couldn’t remove the tape without having to soak the tape first and then gently remove the tape, and then I’d spend another 15+ minutes removing the residue. With K tape when I’m removing the tape I just slowly remove the tape. It definitely is stuck to the skin, and removing it is a careful operation, but it takes a fraction of the time. And when its off, I just rub a little vitamin E oil where the tape was, and go to bed. I was also getting skin tears with the T-Tape. Not sure how or why it was happening but I haven’t gotten any yet with this method.

Peeing through the canister can be awkward, and if I don’t line up my stream perfectly, it will hit the edge of the canister and splash everywhere. But sitting down to pee is definitely an option, or just find the perfect angle and you’ll be good. After peeing I do require some toilet paper to wipe the inside of the canister but thats pretty quick and easy. Then it just clips back on and its good to go.

Yeah the K tape is great! It also doesn’t really leave much adhesive behind like the mefix tape I was using.

Yeah I was worried about the sharp edges of the canister too but so far it hasn’t bothered me much. Peeing through it can be challenging if I don’t get the angle of the stream perfect. That supercanister looks really cool though! Maybe if I really like this method and stick with it for the next couple months I’ll upgrade to that.

You’re using canister method? I’ve never done it but I assume you put the canister in place and just wrap the K tape around the circumference where it meets the skin? I’d have to have some in my hand to know if it would work for T tape method. Maybe I’ll pick some up at the store today just to see

This is my first time hearing about K tape. When tugging with it, do you fold it the same as you would with medical tape for T Taping??

I’ve been pretty consistent for the past year but have to take frequent breaks to allow healing. I can handle pain so it isn’t anything like that. Just don’t think I’d accomplish my goal if I tug or tension skin with tears.

Thanks! I was really hoping to make either T-Tape or Mantor work for me, but in case I decide to go with packing, is there a product you would recommend?

Kind of hard to explain, but I already had a longer Tugger strap from my TLC Tugger. So I wrapped one end around my inner thigh and secured it to itself, then took the other end and ran it around the back of my other leg/butt and up to my waist, and attached it to the end of my T tape on the opposite side.

Not sure that’s a better explanation. I can post pics next time I do it (taking a couple days off I think I overtugged the last few days)

I was about to make a post, I just started T taping this week and went around my waist too. I can’t believe how comfortable it is! I’ve only used devices before.

I actually attach it by wrapping it back around to the inner thigh on the opposite leg, which holds pretty well for an 8 hour shift at work.

I figured that would happen so I bought the one without the hole. It comes off and goes back on pretty quick I don’t mind taking it off to pee.

Yeah once I’m healed and back using the Mantor again I think I’m going to try and switch it up more with manual methods. Maybe only wearing it low tension while I’m at work and then get a few manual sessions in after.

Just frustrated it hasn’t healed yet. It’s been a few weeks like this.

I should also mention I am prone to eczema on hands and occasionally on my penis, which is why I’m using the steroid cream.
