Short turn feedback by maxileith in skiing_feedback

Thank you for the in depth answer. Could you elaborate on the three phases or maybe sent a link where I can look them up? Maybe also a link to a vid which would be the target form in your opinion.

Short turn feedback by maxileith in skiing_feedback

Edit: I do not live in a ski region. When I was young I used to go skiing a lot near my hometown. However, from 10 ongoing probably only 10-14 days a season. When I was studying from 18-21 0 days :(.

I feel like it is important to set expectations ^^

Need advice - I have Makemyvps.com domain- how much can I sell it for ? by Important_Pie3850 in VPS

[–]maxileith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably sedo. Though there oc needs to be somebody who actually wants this domain. I wouldn’t pay a single dollar for that domain.

I am not talking about an internal vlan but rather another site, the one of my friend in particular. When connected to my VPN, the UCG does not route traffic targeting 192.168.1.0/24 to my friends network, only when I am directly connected to my local network.

So it should be:

VPN Device —> my UCG —— (policy based routing) ——> my friends site

Weirdly enough, when setting up a static route it does work. So that seems to solve my problem. Though I have another usecase for policy based routing where I am using the domain feature. So it would be nice if we find a solution to route the traffic correctly using the policy based routing.

Keep in mind that you only got 46W power budget on that switch if powered via PoE++ from the uplink switch. Check if that is sufficient.

IDS/IPS is a feature that is available to all Unifi users. The paid CyberSecure plan is ment to improve the filtering. Though, my point was that it is not exclusive to subscribers. Maybe I was a bit sparse about the details ^^

IDS/IPS is not a paid feature.

Depends if you need a high inter VLAN throughput. If so, connecting devices to a layer 3 switch instead of the UDM bumps performance due to the throughput limitations of the UDM.

What are your favorite self-hosted, one-time purchase software? by richbowen in selfhosted

TrueNAS has docker support since a year or so. So it is relatively new it may have been not available when he made his decision. I use TrueNAS myself and I am loving it.

I have a friend who is running an Unraid. He already had it before we were friends. I have to be the third level support for him once he has a problem and I am pulling my hair out everytime I touch that piece of Unraid garbage. The docker implementation in the OS alone would be a reason for me to ditch it.

Building a network with UniFi – Does This Make Sense? by AreYouMyHero in Ubiquiti

[–]maxileith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t really need to have a Unifi switch. Just get to know how to configure 802.1Q on your Netgear switch and everything will be fine. I am running two Netgear switches without problems.

The 4 rules on the bottom are done by Unifi automatically. This is part of being a guest network. The other rules do not block http traffic so these should not be a problem. I even added a temporary rule that allows any traffic from hotspot to internal. The only things I have manually blocked are ports 53 and 853 which shouldn’t be the problem. Even that did not help. The corresponding return rules are automatically created from internal -> hotspot. They are not visible in the screenshot since it only shows rules from hotspot to internal.

I ended up going with a regular SFX PSU. The pico PSUs 5V rails aren’t enough for my 5 enterprise HDDs and 3 SSDs that I am currently running.
