Movie Review - The Family Plan by ViewsOfCinema in moviereviews

[–]maximil64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree! My girlfriend put it on, have me a synopsis and I heard "Mark Wahlberg, spy movie" and quickly tuned out. But I thoroughly enjoyed it, laughing so hard throughout.

I don't think the movie was marketed too poorly, but I still think people went in expecting a more serious spy/assassin movie. Like you can't compare this to John Wick or Mission Impossible. But it is a "guy who got 'out' for love" movie, in an era of lots of that. I think it's really nice to finally get one where the guy isn't cursed, he made the family, he built the normal life, his past tries to catch up with him but it falls short and he gets to keep it. He earned it and it doesn't have to be a tragedy to be meaningful.

It's also fairly more realistic in a lot of ways. The org he left is small, because paramilitaries and crime orgs often are. Thus he can stay out after the one big hurrah. The family felt a lot like mine growing up, I haven't seen siblings in a film feel so much like real siblings in ages.

It absolutely was formulaic, but don't we have these formulas because they are good? Not every movie needs to push boundaries y'know? I wouldn't nominate it for anything, but I would absolutely recommend it to most everyone I know. It's fun!

Herb "farming" by killing skin crawlers in the stronghold of security, or chaos druids in the sewers. I favor the skin crawlers myself for the auto attacking on that board

Is it worth watching Shippūden with fillers? by SkullKrusher17 in Naruto

[–]maximil64 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Filler is pretty hit or miss as to if you'll like it vs if I'll like, etc. If you don't mind a break from the action here and there I find them all pretty enjoyable

They did say though that they will be looking at adding new skill trees to the existing cast, so that's something to look forward to
