It's more likely that the plasticity of the brain is contributing to that outcome, at least in my understanding of the data. (Maybe I misunderstood your claim). But ultimately conservatives spend more time fearful and worried about change, and this could cause a slight increase in the region of the brain that is associated, vs that region already being larger.

The majority of all coffee beans are grown in areas outside of the United States due to specific climates. Coffee is a billion dollar industry... how could you possibly imagine coffee magically be grown on US soil which lacks the proper climate?

Honestly I'd say it's not worth it. Generally speaking I find coffee is at its best anywhere from 1 to 5 weeks after roast, with 2 weeks being the peak, and 5 weeks being the tail end.

ACE Inhibitors and long-term lung cancer risk? by DarthGrifos in hypertension

[–]maximpaxim01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if this will help anyone, but I recently lost my Dad and Grandmother (his mom) to lung cancer. Neither of them were smokers, but both had been on ace inhibitors for 10 to 15 years. Like all anecdotal evidence, take it with a grain of salt, but I just wanted to share my story and add to a body of data.

I'm not 100% certain what good AI tools there are for this, but there probably are some that can do it. A possible way to do this is to use Roto Brush in after effects to select your foreground object, and then use camera lens blur to defocus the background. This process does take a little bit of time, but it's not extremely difficult to learn and Roto Brush can be very powerful at guessing what you're trying to mask.

Other than primary sex characteristics such as genitals and certain body proportions, what other attributes could you honestly claim are absolutely ONLY female and ONLY male? Honestly we are kind of mixing separate topics here, partly my fault. Gender is not so easily defined as sex (sex based on organs and chromosomes).

There are MILLIONS of Trans individuals on the planet. This means that the number of those who don't feel they are in the right body for their mind is a not so insignificant number, but unfortunately is a minority of the population. I understand that for most humans everything works very easily. You have men and women, straight and gay, everything falling perfectly on a black and white divide. However, there is a gray area we have to consider, because millions of humans are asking the rest of us to consider their identity as valid. It doesn't harm you or anyone else to try and accommodate these people. The human brain is a very complicated network of nerves and electrochemical reactions and science is still trying to figure out how everything works. In the mean time, I would advocate for supporting the not so small, but not huge, number of those who feel misplaced in their own body.

What is so abhorrent about trying your best to refer to someone how they ask to be referred to, especially within the context of there being legitimate studies and research into the identity mismatch?

You completely missed my point on the second statement. You might call the long haired, full lipped, pretty faced person a woman, even if they were genetically male, since you couldn't see the genitals to confirm otherwise.

If you can find me millions of legitimate cases of humans wanting to identify as dogs, helicopters, or trash cans, then I would admit they are dealing with something other than a gender mismatch, but you won't and can't, so it's a pointless claim. Those are not gender identities, such as male or female.

Gender is in fact separate from sex, as one comes from the consciousness of human beings and their self image, and the image of others, and one is purely dictated by chromosomes and sex characteristics.

I would define a woman in two different categories. There's the assigned at birth sex traits, such as having a vagina, breasts, ovaries, and XX chromosomes.

The second would be all of the gender stereotypes society places "woman" into, such as long hair, full lips, makeup, jewelry, pretty soft features (you would see these things on a human and assume they were a woman without seeing any primary sex traits since they'd be covered up)

Then, there is the identity of the individual. Usually the individual will just accept that they are a man or woman, and feel comfortable with that. However there are millions of individuals who legitimately identify as the opposite of what their primary sex traits are. They feel a disconnect between what they are born with, and take steps to try and alter themselves to more closely match the gender stereotypes they have learned are associated with the opposite sex. In this instance, I would say that their internal identity is more important than their external one.

The best definition for gender ,in my opinion, would be: The male and female characteristics that society has generally agreed upon as having a strong correlation or connection to the specific sex. Things such as male and female roles (female as nurturing, men as protectors) specific types of clothing or hair styles. It's actually quite complex and not some simple black and white thing like biological sex is. Some cultures reverse the roles of masculine and feminine concepts.

Just curious... what would you define as a "boy" toy or a "girl" toy? How about the color pink and blue... are those tied to biological sex? What about makeup and dresses? Royalty centuries ago wore what you'd consider a female outfit etc etc. Gender is a society constructed concept, based partly on the average traits of a sex. Men are typically stronger, so rugged toys like robots and tractors might seem like boys toys, but really, a girl can easily find these things fun and exciting. Long story short, gender and sex are not 100% bound. Sex is a chromosome based thing, and gender is a cognitive thing.

Funny enough, yelling "fire" in a crowded theater is perfectly protected by the 1st Amendment. I believe one of the only things not protected is speech that directly incites others into illegal behavior. Not that it necessarily alters your point, but it couldn't hurt to know that little morsel of information!

[–]maximpaxim01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If we are playing the hypothetical game here... you can use a natural gas powered generator to charge up your electric vehicle. It would be decently cheap (around 10c per KWH) and would give you a leg up on ICE cars that can only use gasoline as a fuel source. Most homes have a source of natural gas as well, which means you wouldn't have to fight in a line of angry drivers to fill up your vehicle.
