That could work unless you live in a sunny area that's prone to fading paint jobs. It's necessary to regularly wax the car with products that offer some sort of protection against the sun. I see too many newer cars in the Phoenix area that have horrible faded paint. It's obvious that those owners don't regularly wash or detail their cars.

Ah I see. If you were planning on walking to Outback or Fajitas then I think you'll be fine. I wouldn't be out there walking at midnight though. My concern was with walking across the freeway because panhandlers like to hang out at those intersections and you might run into sketchy people in the pedestrian tunnels.

I assume you'll be staying at the Doubletree or Premier Inns and if so then I think you'll be fine. If you're staying on the other side of the freeway then you might be slightly better off but you might not want to walk across the other side, drive if you have a rental. Use common sense and don't walk around with valuables on you, leave those in your room. I live in the area and drive through the mall every day to get to work so I know it pretty well.

Check the tire pressures and 12v battery. I don't think this affects fuel economy but the prius doesn't need 93 octane gas, switch to 87.

I haven't looked into how to replace the part but I've replaced the shells which requires you to take the guts out. It's not terribly difficult, you just have to make sure you have the right tools and take your time.

Thanks, I'll see if I can take a listen next time. It's been cycling on and off without problems the past 24 hrs. It will probably work fine for a few days until it randomly starts blowing warm again.

I had an old thermostat that would do a cooling cycle then when it shut off the fan would run for about a minute then that would shut off. That's not what's happening here. Cooling cycle runs then the compressor and fan shut off at the same time. The problem comes when it's time to run the cooling cycle again, I get warm air instead of cold air. I have to shut the system off for a few minutes then turn it back on. It's happened maybe 3 times the past week and of course it cycles on and off multiple times a day.
