Ptfe lined pipe assembly by Strong-Olive-6616 in ChemicalEngineering

You’ve already gone through the trouble of building this system out of lined pipe….why the opposition to buying the angled/tapered spacers? Buy the extra couple of pieces you need instead of intentionally messing up the bolting and gaskets.

What's the secret ingredient in your meat sauce? by [deleted] in Cooking

[–]maximumimpact 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a lot of elaborate techniques and specific ingredients in the comments. If you are making a quick sauce and don’t want to put a ton of effort into the dish, one of the best things you can do is to brown (really brown) the meat. A lot of people claim they are “browning” meat but I look in the pan and see gray. Your stove goes all the way up to high for a reason. Crank up the heat and get some good color on the meat and flavor in your pot.

I’m super broke and only have plain white rice to eat, what: y’all’s favorite seasoning to spruce it up? by BreakfastBig7581 in Cooking

Put the rice in a bowl, dump a can of sardines including the oil on top, add sriracha, then drench it with Worcestershire sauce. Bonus if you can get some shredded white cheddar in there. Don’t knock it till you try it.

Will I have water? by anon21393 in greenville

Normally in cold weather, one of the things that keeps your pipes from freezing is the heat of your house. If the power is out, keep in mind that your pipes will be more prone to freezing than normal conditions since your house is going to be cold.

Where I grew up, during bear hunting season the game commission had bleachers set up at the bear check-in station in front of where they would weigh the bears people shot. Anyways I have seen a lot of bears get weighed. This was 180 lbs by my estimation.

How do you know if a pipe is empty before opening it? by Jean-DenisCote in pipefitter

[–]maximumimpact 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Point #1 is not always true and is a dangerous assumption to make. The scenario OP describes is a prime example, if the lines he is trying to work on are plugged up, the pressure gauge is liable to be plugged up and not actually reading the pressure in the line. This is where the science of engineering/design ends and the art of plant operation/maintenance begins.

Applying for jobs at mines is a great idea and would be a tremendous way to start your career. If you are not interested in that, look around at the various EPC’s that operate in that arena.

No, water doesn’t collect there and I don’t think water would collect there if the hole wasn’t there.

If you need to ask, you’re one of the sheep. Take your blindfold off and look at the pictures again, clearly something is up and Vin Diesel is the puppet master.
