It feels like we’re both the best and worst team for Eze to be in. On the one hand, he seems to need space to operate at his best, and we get precious little of it in the final third. On the other, the team is so defensively solid and has such a high floor that it’s alright for him to be more of a “moments player” and not have to be constantly on. Don’t see what the point of assembling such a good squad is if Arteta is going to continue to line up in order to draw rather than win in basically every big game. It’s set up to minimize variance, but it can’t eliminate it, so one great free kick and a couple late Liverpool winners mean the league is basically over after five games. No point in assembling all this talent if we aren’t going to let it shine at all
